Inspired2Become - youth reaching their full potential
What we do every month to get the youth inspired!
Alternative action sports
-Education first: Part of our life skill coaching is to motivate the kids to do their homework and to pass their grades. When kids bring their school results to the coach for inspection they receive rewards. These kids from Cloetesville showed their school reports to the coach and each received free protective gear.
-New Club, I2B Kayamandi: We started a new club with a group of kids from Kayamandi. They receive free rollerblade and life skill coaching every Monday 4-5pm at the Son Skate Stellenbosch skate park.
Strand skim & skate:All the guys from the Strand skimboarding club also started skateboarding and we could provide them with some protective gear. Skateboarding also improves your skimboarding after all.
Meet Africa: The students from Meet Africa came to the skatepark to do an interview with Fanie and myself about our achievements and Inspired2Become. For more info on meet Africa visit www.meetafrica.co.za
Keeping it Real, SABC2: I2B will feature on SABC2 closer to the end of the year on a youth program called Keeping It Real. They did an interview with me and some of the kids and also filmed the coaching at the Kleinvlei skate park. Will give you a heads up for this:)
Legends: I really love these guys from the Cloetesville club. They are so excited about progressing in their sports. Only sad thing is that the skate park we have built for them is going backwards. The tennis court’s floor is breaking and the wooden ramps got destroyed by the weather and thieves stole the metal. We are looking for sponsors to get involved in this project to enable us to build a concrete skate park to be resistant against weather and thieves. If you are interested or know people who would be please reply on this email. Thanks for your support.

Soul Surfer- Inspired2Become organised a movie night where we took the athletes from Pioneer school and also the Strand skimboarding club to go watch Soul Surfer. A movie about a teenage girl who got attacked by a shark and lost her arm and how she looked to God for answers. Amazing movie! The kids loved it.
They all had to give feedback about what they learned from the movie. Below are some of their own words:
Athletics for youth with disabilities
- Denswell Maans achieving internationally-
Denswell went to America in July for the IBSA ( International Blind Sport Association) Games and achieve a gold in 100m (11.89s), silver in the 200m (24.84s), and bronze in Long Jump (5.73m)
This was a newspaper article in the Jip (22.08.2011):
-Occupational evening- Fanie had the privilege to testify at a youth night, held at the Kuilsriver Christian Fellowship Assemblies of God. It is amazing to see young people so amped for God!
Candy also wrote her coach a letter:
