Inspired2Become - spot the overlooked, develop the neglected

What we do every month to get the youth inspired!

Alternative action sports
-Day out with Agapè-
Agapè is a school for children with special needs.
I2B together with two therapists from the school, Anne de Villiers and Jami Smit (Jami is my fiancè), took two boys out for a day during the holidays just to love them and expose them to some positive activities. First we took them horse riding, then to the skate park and then finished the day off at the beach. They loved it.

-Langebaan weekend-
I2B did a weekend with the skimboarding club where we ran a skateboard competition together with Push skateboarding and after that we did a skimboarding clinic at the beach. It was really an awesome weekend. Handsdown skimboards sponsored 5 skimboards for the clinic. Bosko Church in langebaan gave us food and accommodation on the Friday night in the caravan park. My fiancè's parents let us put up our tents next to the river on their farm the Saturday night and also filled up our stomachs. What a blessing!

-Kleinvlei Skatepark competition and outreach

-Bonteheuwel club- We visited Earl Abraham's club in Bonteheuwel called Roll Free. His club is part of Inspired2Become and Son Skate. Earl does amazing work with the youth in his area.

-Asian X-Games 2011- It was a real privilege for me to go to the Asian X-Games again this year. It was the forth time I went. The previous years I placed 11th, 10th and 9th.  This year again I competed against 24 athletes from around the world and made it through to the top 10 finals. It was a miracle that I skated after I injured my knee in warm ups just before the final. I didn't feel a thing while skating and got 8th place. All glory to God:)

Athletics for youth with disabilities
-Nedbank National Championships for the physically disabled- I2B had participants at the SA champs. Below is Alvano and his guide Arnu in the 4x100m relay.

Below is JP in the 4x100m relay.

We also had time to go to the Valley of waves and overcome our fears. Below is Jonathan Ntutu on the Slide of Courage.

-Cricket for the physically disabled- Over the Easter weekend a Cricket team for the physically disabled from Pretoria came through to Stellenbosch to play against a Maties invitational team. Below is Wilhelm on the Cricket pitch we played on.
Fanie joined the Maties team and below are his team-mates which were a group of young talented players from Franschoek. We played 20 overs a side where the Maties team batted first and ended with 97 runs. The game was close but the team from Pretoria reached our score in the last over.

-The Regional Special Olympics- Candy participated in the Regional Special Olympics and won both the 100m and 200m for women u/21.

You can now sponsor a kid membership to the skatepark for R80 a month and coaching classes for R240 a month. We will provide the equipment.
