I2B and CSA updates

What we've been doing to inspire the youth....

Alternative action sports by Chris

I2B Cloeteville club
Our I2B Cloetesville turnout has been especially large the last couple of weeks.

While still waiting for permission to start building their concrete park, we are maintaining the rail and cement area on which the kids can practice their skills.

Our older skaters have been really loyal and have continuously set a very good example to the other young club members.

A day in the life of an I2B Skate Coach...

I2B Kleinvlei Club
We recently fixed I2B Kleinvlei club's skate rail.

The club members also started building a skate box (on their own!) and I came to help with the final touches.

Ultimate X skateboards sponsorship
We would like to thank World Skateboarding Federation and Markus Museler from Old School Productions for donating really cool new skateboards to the kids at I2B after we helped at UltimateX.

Kogel Bay skim outing
Gareth and Dylan from Christian Skaters Mpumalanga and Gsk8t flew down all the way from Nelspruit to join the rest of the CS crew at the Ultimate X event in Cape Town. They also joined our skimboarding club and we decided to make the club session extra special by taking everyone to Kogel Bay for a skim.

Out of everyone there, the dogs most probably enjoyed it the most!

I2B Surfing

Moose and his I2B Surfing crew have been surfing really hard. His team has also recently started coaching kids from Bright Lights safehouse. The children have really grown very fond of their new sport and new mentors.

Athletics for people with disabilities by Fanie

Maties Para-Athletics Camp
We invited the schools from Western Province to join our annual camp. We had just under 20 athletes who joined.

It was great to spend time with the athletes and to see their enthusiasm.

New I2B athletes
Nur has been looking for a guide for quite some time and Clinton was keen to start guiding an athlete... and so, the two joined forces. I am really excited to see this duo competing at Nationals!

Exterra Warriors - Grabouw
Inspired 2 Become partnered with Prochorus, SCAS and a German missionary team to enter groups for the Xterra Lite in Grabouw - the groups focussed on swimming, cycling and trail running.

Visiting Vergenoegd Primer and Olifantsriver Centre
Myself, Thabo and Karin visited Vergenoegd Primer and Olifantsriver Centre for Persons with Disabilities. We shared our stories with the awesome kids and on the same day we went to Vredendal to plan a disability sport awareness day.

Educational Therapy by Jami

Starting therapy
The children at Raithby Primary were very eager to start therapy again and we believe that good things lie ahead for all of them this year.

Ethan and Aldorico wrote down their dreams for the year and afterwards they composed a short rap and beat-box about it!

CSA - Christian Skaters and Skimmers Africa

Skate comp in Bonteheuwel
We partnered with Potter's House church when they recently held a skateboarding and rollerblading competition in Bonteheuwel.

We took members from our I2B Kleinvlei club with to compete.

Members of the church entertained the crowd with some solid Christian rap. Pastor Harold shared a message and gave the people an opportunity to commit their lives to Christ. The response was great!

Congratulations to everyone who placed and competed. We are very proud of you guys! Thanks to Pastor Harold for reaching out, caring and loving people. Below is Pastor Harold and I, with the top 3 amateur rollerbladers.

Sharing at Bright Lights
Fanie and I visited Bright Lights safe house in Somerset West and both of us had a short message to share with the children.

Sharing at Paarl Amplified Youth
I did a blade show and shared my testimony.

Sharing at Paal-Valley High
I also did a show and talk for the boys at Paarl Valley High School in the same week. I believe God did a lot in the young people's lives.

Christian Skaters at Ultimate X
The highlight for us the past month was to help at the annual UltimateX competition at Grand West. We were asked to add two of our ramps to the competition's park.

These ramps were still stationed in Franschoek before moving it and it was quite a mission to get it on the trailer and take it through to Cape Town. Please let me know if you would like to help us get the other ramps to the I2B Somerset West park (this is the old Knysna skatepark that has been donated to I2B. Thanks so much to Marc Kent.)

Thanks to Bruce, Josh, Connor, Godfrey, Max, Zemke, Gareth, Dylan and CS Cape Town for helping us to move, setup and set-down the ramps.

We were so honored to have Gareth and Dylan from Nelspruit join us at the event. Gareth has been in charge of CS Mphumalanga and runs Gsk8t. His total commitment to the Lord is evident to everyone who meets him.

It was great to also have the opportunity to share the CS vision with some leaders.

The best part of the day was to have a national CS gathering/RadTalk and to pray together for UltimateX and CS.

All our love,

The Inspired 2 Become Team
