President's Letter

Dear Readers,

I stepped into 2021 with excitement and trepidation. Despite some setbacks, the chapter rose to the challenges. Like Henry Ford said, “if everyone is moving forward, then success takes care of itself.”

As I look back, I am amazed at the awesome team that made it all happen: to Faith and Addison, without whom we would have no succession in place; to Jennifer, who keeps the chapter affairs running smoothly; to Agnes and Donna, who managed a successful mentorship program; to Lacey, who keeps our finances running; to Bob and Shawn, who win sponsors; to Timothy and Oren for their unconditional support of our chapter and the mentorship program; and most of all to Celeste, without whom there would be no digital presence. To each one of you, my deepest gratitude.

A special thank you to Karen for coordinating our September workshop. We had a great turnout.

I am thrilled to welcome Ashley as our news Social Media Chair for 2022.

I would also like to extend my gratitude to our mentors for investing their time and sharing their experience with our mentees. To the mentees, congratulations on your successful completion of the program. We hope you will join us and advance our profession to improved and better heights.

It is unbelievable that, literally, in the blink of an eye, this year is coming to a close. It has been an amazing ride. I hope you can look back on this year and celebrate with me in person at our holiday meeting on December 14th. We will close our elections and welcome our new leadership team and the board of directors.

The upcoming year is going to be a promising one; of that I am certain.

Best,

Zohra Mutabanna
NTLSC President

VP's Corner

Hello from our Second VP

Happy December, everyone!

As I approach the end of the calendar year, I like to revisit my goals. I find that as a communicator, a friend, a space keeper, that I have a lot to juggle, and sometimes those batons roll under the couch, used as a paper weight, or get stuck in the fan! I’ve learned to toss one or two at a time, or understand why “a baton” is flipping the way I want it to. I’m practicing how to revisit priorities and commitments in a mindful way, which I think is important in these winter months.

See you next year!

Addison

Join us for a holiday gathering with food, fellowship, awards, book swapping, and elections! More information on Holiday Book Swap at Holiday Social

Had it with that handbook? Done with this dictionary? Bored with that book? Want to recycle that reference? Pass on a periodical?

Let’s bring them all to the Holiday Book Swap to celebrate the season of giving (and taking)! You can socialize with colleagues, pass on items from your personal library that you don’t need anymore, and maybe pick up other gently used titles that you can’t live without. Swappable items are not restricted to Tech Comm references. Bring a book to participate in the book swap – it’s lots of fun. In fact, several people brought multiple books at our previous event so they could swap multiple books.
