President's Letter

Dear Readers,

“All is connected... no one thing can change by itself.”

- Paul Hawken

June is my favorite month for many reasons – warmer temperatures, family picnics, socializing and, of course, the STC Summit. This is a perfect time to check in with myself on the skills I need to update, rekindle lost contacts and make new friends.

As I reflect on the quote, I am reminded how STC has become my community in which I have thrived and grown. Each STC event offers an opportunity to lean in and find a better version of myself.

With this thought, I hope I can see you at the Summit next week (June 05 through June 09). Check out the full schedule with the offerings at https://summit.stc.org/conference/. All the sessions will be available on demand through August in case you want to watch missed sessions later.

Best,

Zohra Mutabanna

NTLSC President

VP's Corner

Hello from our First VP

I’ve been reflecting on how maintaining connections are important in technical communication. As technical communicators, we can draw important things from our connections, whether it's good feedback, oversight, supportive commentary. We can interact with a lot of different people, and I believe it’s important to take a moment to reflect on those connections and even if they are in good shape, how can your relationship with them be improved? I know I appreciate when my connections take a mindful and empathetic connection when working with me.

During these next few months, I’m going to reflect on the maintenance of those connections around me.
