Virtual Meeting Follow Up

Thank you to all who attended the 325 Blake Road Virtual Meeting last night!

If you experienced technical difficulties accessing the meeting last night, we apologize and appreciate the time you took out of your evening to learn about the project and share your ideas for the site. You can view the videos from the meeting (project background video and development video) and we encourage your feedback by taking the Design Preferences Survey which is available in English, Somali, and Spanish.

If you have questions or need additional information from the virtual public meeting, please contact Gabe Sherman at gsherman@minnehahacreek.org.

At the meeting we heard from community members about how to best design the site’s public spaces in a way that honors the community’s visions for the site. We hope to hear from more of you! Here are a few ways you can weigh in on the project at this stage.

Share Your Community Vision
Take our Design Preference Survey to help us learn about your preferences on various aspects of the public space design, such as:

  • Should there be design elements which engage children in play?
  • How do you want to interact with water on the site?
  • What kind of walking and biking trails do you want?

The Minnehaha Creek Watershed District (MCWD) is continuing to plan improvements to the natural space along Minnehaha Creek at the 325 Blake Road site in Hopkins, which will connect the surrounding neighborhood to the Minnehaha Creek Greenway trail system, light rail transit, and regional bike trail.

MCWD and the City of Hopkins have also selected a development partner, Alatus, to lead a transformative re-development on the site. While the focus of the public meeting is on the natural space at the project site, the community will have an opportunity to meet the developer at the event.  More information on the development proposal is available on the city of Hopkin's website.

About this Project:

The Minnehaha Creek Watershed District (MCWD) is leading an effort, in partnership with the City of Hopkins and numerous public and private partners, to transform a former industrial site at 325 Blake Road into a vibrant space where people and nature thrive together.

The 325 Blake Road Restoration and Redevelopment project is an effort to marry two sets of goals:

  • The restoration will complete a missing link in the Minnehaha Creek Greenway, a decade-long effort to restore the creek and connect a system of green space and trails around Minnehaha Creek to the surrounding community
  • At the same time, MCWD is working closely with the City of Hopkins and a private partner to integrate a transformative, transit-oriented redevelopment into the site
