Erasmus Plus Training Programme for Transition Leaders
Please register your interest here before January 15th to help us strengthen the funding bid.

We are delighted to be partnering with our friends at Social Landscapes and Col·lectiu Eco-Actiu (CEA), a non-profit training organisation in the Catalan Pyrenees, to apply for Erasmus Plus funding in 2017 to enable up to 20 participants from TTB to take part in training courses focused on supporting individuals and communities to address issues in the fields of social justice, collaboration, permaculture design and the environment.

CEA's trainings have gained an excellent reputation at an international level where for the last seven years they’ve worked with hundreds of community organisers, activists and campaigners from across Europe linking theoretical sessions with direct experiential learning in a wild natural environment.

Find a list of their courses is here.

If you’d be interested in attending then please register by filling a short form here before January 15th. On the form you'll find more information on what your responsibilities would be being part of the programme.

Urban Permaculture Design Course
7 Weekends between April 8th and July 17th in and around Brixton

Social Landscapes is running a certified Permaculture Design Course visiting various South London venues in 2017.

This is a course running over 7 weekends between April and July and visiting various TTB related projects, including the Remakery and Loughborough Farm. The course will explore, in a fun and engaging way, different aspects of ecological and regenerative design, including small and large scale food production, shelter, energy, water, community engagement and livelihoods. Highly recommended - could change your life!

Find more information here.

In the run up to the Permaculture Design Course you can also attend a free Permaculture Info Evening on January 24th and/or a two day Introduction to Permaculture on January 28th/29th.

New Brixton Pound app.

Spending Brixton Pounds engages you with your local economy in a unique way mobilising you to discover new independent local traders. And every time you spend electronic B£s through pay-by-text or the brand new B£ app., 1.5% of the transaction goes directly into the Brixton Fund, our grant scheme for organisations of community benefit. So every time you pay for your groceries, gifts, or meal by pay-by-text or B£ app, you're effectively donating money to community organisations in Brixton!

The Brixton Pound App is free and live on the Apple Store and Google Play Store. The app makes pay-by-text payments with Brixton Pounds far easier and gives live information about local businesses accepting the B£ based on your location.

Be part of the B£ Cafe, the first pay-what-you-feel cafe in South London
The B£ Cafe was set up in July 2016 at 77 Atlantic Road. From the start, it was operating on a pay-what-you-feel basis: meaning customers could decide how much they want to pay for their food and drink. This system means all customers have an opportunity to have an affordable experience, or be generous. As with all our initiatives the cafe is a not-for-profit, with all revenue supporting the local community via the Brixton Fund.

If you're a local resident, come visit us! We've got a seasonal and locally sourced menu of food and drink (our most recent special, turmeric chai, has been very popular in this chilly weather!), and the Cafe is a great meeting space with a friendly atmosphere. We're open Mon 8am-5:30pm, Tue-Fri 8am-6pm, Sat 9am-6pm, Sun 10am-5pm.

Volunteer at the B£ cafe. We are looking particularly for people available during afternoons and weekends who could help with preparing food and drinks, serving customers, and telling them more about the B£.

Cafe experience would be a plus, but we provide full training + travel and childcare expenses if you need them. If it sounds like something you’d like to get involved in, drop us an email at info@brixtonpound.org or come by the Cafe for a chat. Please spread the word among your friends and networks!

Surplus Food at the B£ Cafe. We partnered up with local organisations and businesses to source the Cafe’s food and drink from local surplus – perfectly edible food that would otherwise be wasted – and turn it into delicious and healthy meals. Are you a business or individual who could donate your surplus? Particularly cakes or baked goods? We'd love to hear from you. See also the Brixton Surplus Food Network
