Local Food is the Business event
On 22 May more than 50 local food activists gathered at Open Project Night to identify how we can enable a bunch of amazing of local food projects to collaborate in building a sustainable local food system that serves real local needs and can compete with the corporate take-over of our food. Myatt's Fields Food Project, Loughborough Farm, Brockwell Park Community Greenhouses and Local Green presented on assets, gaps and challenges, see here. The four group discussions came up with solution and actions, see here. Please look and see how you can get involved. We plan to meet every month at Open Project Night to take these actions forward, starting on 26 June. Note that OPN is at the Brixton Community Base, Talma Road, SW2 1AS till further notice. (map)
Bank of Lambeth project update
Imagine if we could harness the tide of money that swills in and out of Lambeth every month to benefit the local economy and community.
On June 12 at Open Project Night we had a great meeting with Tony Greenham of the RSA and Sam Ghann of the Greater London Mutual, a project to set up a genuinely cooperative regional bank starting with a bank for Londoners. We are deciding whether this can answer our need for a local bank. Join us to ask local people at the Lambeth Country Show. Watch the Greater London Mutual 1 minute video and register your interest here.
