Sail Camp Open House May 7th from 12- 3
at Marin Yacht Club in San Rafael!

Sailing Education Adventures’ Sail Camp is one of the best ways for children to learn to sail in The Bay Area. It offers intensive instruction on 12'- 14’ sailboats, as well as lessons on boat safety and seamanship.  And most importantly, Sail Camp fosters teamwork and individual self- confidence. All classes are taught by experienced instructors certified by the US. Sailing Association.

SEA is a non-profit community sailing organization dedicated to providing affordable instruction in the art of sailing and encouraging the care for the marine environment. Join us on the water for this exciting and educational sailing experience.

Mini Camp: One-week, half-day sessions introduce younger children to sailing. Light morning breezes give younger children an opportunity to start learning about wind, water, safety and fun. Youths are taught basic sailing skills in our sloop rigged, 16.5 foot Catalina Capris by our experienced staff.

Basic/Intermediate Camp: Basic introduces new sailors with boat handling and the principles of sailing. Intermediate campers who have mastered basic skills will be challenged with more skill building in single-handing and responsibility by building leadership skills. The full-day sessions for two weeks (Monday through Friday) concentrate on sailing, boating safety and teamwork. Parent, campers, instructors and friends will celebrate the end of Basic Sail Camp at a graduation BBQ held at Marin Yacht Club where certificates and awards will be presented.

Advanced Camp: One-week, half day sessions for advanced sailors looking for more intense sailing aboard our new sloop rigged RS Quests. Campers will be challenged by performance sailing, longer voyages, and an introduction to racing. Advanced campers encouraged to come early to help with mini camp. Advanced students must be approved by SEA Head Counselor or Director.

SEA Explorers Camp: Youth learn to sail and engage in marine science experiments and talk plankton to better understand marine systems and our relationship with the marine environment! Taught by US Sailing certified SEA instructors with a science background.

New Year, New Boat!

We are happy to announce that Frank Lawler (namesake of the Annual Lawler Cup) and Cathy Stierhoff, long time SEA members, former dinghy and Intermediate Sailing instructors, and racers, have donated their Santana 22, Tackful to SEA!

Tackful is a stout sailing boat, easy to handle, not very complicated.  She is the perfect step up for our students/members who want to go beyond the Catalinas on a keelboat.  Plus, her engine is accessible from the cockpit, something those of you who are familiar with Shockwave will appreciate!

If any of you who were checked out on Shockwave want to now get checked out on Tackful, let me know and I'll put you in touch with boatkeeper, Mark Swanson.
RSVP  if you are interested!

A Keelboat dockside class will be held if there is enough interest.  This is the first step to being able to do co-op Mentoring charters on the keelboats, then get checked out, then be able to charter the boat.  Please contact us soon if you would be interested in doing this all day course and we'll put together a class date for the spring time.

A great time to come and get to know Tackful from bottom to top will be when she is hauled on March 10th to be scrubbed and painted. Email for more details of how you can help!

Rowing Loch Lomond

Did you know SEA Members get access to The Mo? It's a little known secret that President Rich Hodges has sure been enjoying all year. The Loch Lomond's resident harbor seal follows Rich around during the peaceful mornings out on the bay - what a way to start the day!

"Mo" is a wonderful rowboat that long time member Mo Witzel donated to the organization last year. Founder Jane Piereth also donated her pram for member use. As a SEA member, you have the privilege to use the boats anytime once you get checked out for safety protocol and skills.

Contact President Rich Hodges to learn more and schedule a "check out" so you one of SEA's membership benefits! Thanks for the photo, Joe Rouse.

A big thank you to the companies Zynga and  Nvidia for their recent matching donation program. A big shout out to Peter Buettner and John Dick for making that happen!
