Eastern Slope CEQA/NEPA Conference

Three-day Workshop, 9/26-28/13, Mammoth, California

The Central California Chapter of the Association of Environmental Professionals is hosting the first-ever Eastern Slope CEQA/NEPA Conference. This three-day event will feature three half-day workshops designed to help planners, consultants, regulators, applicants, and other industry professionals:
  • Advanced CEQA Workshop to stay current on legal trends and “hot topics” affecting compliance with CEQA. (Thursday, September 26 at 1pm)
  • NEPA Basics Workshop for instruction on NEPA documents and process, including framework, application, content, common mistakes, and integration with other laws. Includes the Bureau of Land Management’s NEPA Process. (Friday, September 27 at 8am)
  • CEQA Basics and Refresher Workshop to present the fundamentals of CEQA and the State Guidelines. (Friday, September 27 at 1:30pm)
The workshop instructor team consists of environmental practitioners, agency staff, and attorneys with career experience in CEQA and NEPA, including Sean Bechta (Ascent Environmental), Charyce Hatler (Department of Water Resources), John Kinsey (Wanger Jones Helsey PC), and Steve Noack (The Planning Center).

Following the Advanced CEQA Workshop on Thursday, join conference attendees for an opening reception featuring Jim Reed from Liebersbach, Mohun, Carney & Reed. Jim will discuss the famous Friends of Mammoth case, which resulted in the comprehensive CEQA we know today. Friday’s luncheon keynote speaker is the Mammoth Community Water District’s (District’s) General Manager, Patrick Hayes. Patrick will be discussing the Water Rights Agreement between the District and the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, as well as the ORMAT Geothermal IV Project EIR/EIS.

The Eastern Slope Conference also offers a half-day fly fishing workshop on Saturday morning led by Gene Talmadge, AEP President.
