Landmark California Climate Adaptation Gathering
Call for Session Proposals – Due March 20th
The Local Government Commission and the State of California are organizing an important, inaugural California Adaptation Forum in Sacramento, August 19 – 20, 2014. It comes at a time of broad-based efforts by state, regional, and local agencies to better prepare for climate changes. State and national leaders in climate readiness are expected to attend. Attendees will include elected officials, public and private sector leaders, nonprofits and researchers addressing public health, energy, water, emergency management, agriculture, biodiversity conversation, and coastal management.
Forum organizers are inviting Session Proposals between now and March 20, 2014. To submit a session proposal, please use the online submittal forms.
One goal of the sessions is to integrate disciplines, helping to counter single-sector, silo thinking. The Forum will offer dialogue across sector lines to share experiences, insights, inspiration, tools and strategies. Sessions may be proposed in seven cross-cutting sector tracks (each of which are described in more detail in the Call for Session Proposals):
- planning
- governance
- implementation strategies
- monitoring and evaluation
- innovation and technology
- community engagement and communications
- funding, financing, and the economics of adaptation
In addition to the shared information and dialogue, the California Adaptation Forum will provide a valuable opportunity for networking with climate change adaptation leaders in a dynamic and inspirational learning environment. Ascent Environmental is proud to be a Forum sponsor. Additional conference sponsorships are available.
Please help make this a landmark event that will move California forward in its climate adaptation. If you have questions, please contact Kif Scheuer or Jenny Woods at the Local Government Commission, (916) 448-1198, or Ascent Principals Honey Walters or Curtis Alling.
