Leaders of Ascent's Biology and Urban Design Practices

Ascent Broadens Eco to Urban Multidisciplinary Services

If leadership defines a firm, Ascent has become more multidimensional! We expanded our leadership ranks and diversified both our ecological and urban community services. Allen Folks, RLA, ASLA, a long-time friend and colleague, has joined us to establish and lead our Urban Design and Planning practice. Linda Leeman, our Natural Resources practice leader, has become Ascent’s newest Principal.

Ascent Launches Urban Design and Planning Practice

Allen Folks has been a regional, national, and international leader of urban design and planning assignments for many years. From Southeast Asia to the Middle East to the Bay Area to right here in Sacramento, Allen has led a wide variety of private and public development planning and design projects, including transit-oriented development (TOD), campus expansions, downtown revitalizations, and new communities. Notable project examples locally include masterplans for the West Sacramento Bridge District, Delta Shores in the City of Sacramento, and Easton in Sacramento County. International examples include plans for Tengah New Town in Singapore and Kwasa Damansara TOD in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. A registered landscape architect, he is a member of the Urban Land Institute (past Sacramento District Council Chair), American Society of Landscape Architects, and Lambda Alpha International.

Linda Leeman joined Ascent in the “early days,” March 2010, as a Senior Biologist to develop our biological services. A certified Wildlife Biologist, Linda has led Ascent’s Natural Resources practice since then. She has been on the Executive Board of The Wildlife Society since 2006, serving a term as Western Section President. Recently, Linda managed Ascent’s work helping California Department of Fish and Wildlife prepare the California State Wildlife Action Plan 2015 Update, a statewide biodiversity strategy plan that received the 2016 award as Outstanding Environmental Resource Document by the Association of Environmental Professionals. We are thrilled that Linda has become Ascent’s newest Principal, promoted from our in-house team in recognition of her leadership role and contributions to the firm.
It’s an exciting time when we get the chance to reunite with an old friend to start a new professional adventure together and to promote a key company leader from within. If you’d like to say hello to Allen or Linda, please do. Their contact information in Sacramento is: Allen Folks at 916.732.3320, and Linda Leeman at 916.930.3190.
