Bioinformatics: the Tools for Biological Discovery

Biomed Informatics

At the dawn of the personalized-medicine era and the $1,000 genome, bioinformatics is a key tool revolutionizing the life sciences. We’ll survey computer-based methods used to discover new drugs and develop them for clinic, emphasizing hands-on experience with current and emerging computational tools for biological discovery—tools used extensively not just in pharmaceutical companies but across the life science industry. This course will prepare you for a variety of roles in the life science industry, including basic and clinical research, manufacturing, regulatory affairs, and project management.
