Top BPM Trends for 2015: Mobile, Flexible, Simple
In 2014, we saw more focus on mobile Business Process Management (BPM), and began moving processes onto the cloud with BPM Platform as a Service (PaaS) solutions. Software vendors saw revenue growth in the double-digits. According to Forrester Research analyst Clay Richardson, 2015 may be the tipping point for BPM. With that being said, here are the top five trends we see for this year.
Mobile BPM is among a slew of enterprise mobile platforms that will continue to take off. Today’s employees spend less time in the office. They don’t appreciate access to enterprise solutions on the go—they have come to expect it. That means they demand solutions that are mobile, user friendly and secure.
The spike we saw in multi-cloud solutions in 2014 is expected to continue this year. While hybrid clouds offer increased flexibility, IT must ensure that BPM solutions seamlessly integrate with a plethora of other cloud services. BPM must be designed for and work in a new hybrid cloud environment.
ERP Customization Alternative
Rather than customizing an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, creating functionality with BPM is a better way to do get the features you need. BPM allows you to define how you want to runs your business instead of letting your ERP define you. Using BPM to create specific processes can prevent errors you may experience with an ERP system and offer increased organizational flexibility.
A social, mobile, cloud market demands BPM solutions become simpler. Today’s customers don’t want a complicated product. For a simpler solution to work, processes must also be simplified. A good way to start is to automate common activities, shorten cycle times and eliminate non-value adding activities.
BPM is being used to improve the customer experience. While originally seen as a path to efficiency, BPM is now seen as a tool to improve the processes internal and external customers come face to face with every day. There is perhaps no better way to improve the customer experience.
