APRIL 22, 2022

Sunday, April 24

We had an amazing Easter. Passionate worship, high turnout, and a festive mood marked the day. But something still It's not just church - everything feels different right now. The disciples felt something similar after the Resurrection. There was more to do, but they weren't feeling it. But the Risen Christ met them and showed them how to go on. In his presence, we find the guidance we need, too.

Restructuring Church Governance

For over a year, we have been discerning the governance structure best suited to support the mission and vision of Church of the Saviour. We will hold a special session of church conference on Tuesday, May 3 at 7 p.m. in the Sanctuary to vote on the unified governance board model proposed by our Leadership Development Committee. The meeting will be offered in a hybrid format so all who are interested may participate.

COTS GAME NIGHT Friday, April 22

Join us for a church-wide Game Night at 7 p.m. in the Great Hall. Bring a game you love, play a game you've never played, chat with folks you haven't seen in a while, or meet someone new. Everyone is welcome!

Do you and your money get along?

Many of us spend most of our time earning it and the rest of the time trying to make it last. Others of us earn enough but wonder whether we're using it in the best way. Like most areas of life, our finances have so much to do with our faith. It's true now, and it was true during the time of Jesus' ministry, where he talked about it a LOT. What if your finances brought you a sense of peace? What if how you interacted with your money aligned with your faith? What if you were working a plan to get out of debt, increase your savings, and increase your giving?

Saving Grace: A Guide to Financial Well-Being is a 6-week course on Saturday mornings from 9:30-11:00 a.m., April 30 - June 4. Participate in person or via Zoom. The $25 fee covers the cost of the workbook and devotional. Scholarships are available upon request.
Regardless of the state of your finances, we encourage every member to sign up today by clicking this link or contacting the church office.

The heartbreaking scenes of countless refugees, mostly women and children, fleeing the war in Ukraine have been broadcasted into our homes every day for over a month. At the same time, thousands of Afghan refugees are still in the early stages of adjusting to their new lives in the United States. For the last several years Church of the Saviour has been partnering with US Together, a local refugee resettlement agency, to provide support and services for displaced people settling in the Cleveland area.
Representatives from US Together will be giving an in-person presentation on Sunday, April 24 at 9:30 and 11:00 a.m. in Calvary Hall. If you are interested in the current refugee situation in Cleveland and if you would like to make a difference in the lives of our new neighbors, please make plans to attend one of these presentations.

All summer clothes for men, women, and children can be dropped off in the outside wooden box by the Parlor entrance. Your donation will make a difference for our neighbors in need!  To join COTS volunteers in this ministry, contact Tom Wadsworth.

Dealing with Division

Has there ever been a time with a more divided society? Nationally we face division about racism, what to teach our children in public schools, and countless other issues. Even in the United Methodist Church we have serious differences about dealing with sexual identity. Actually, however, there were similar division in the first century Corinthian church. The Spiritual Fitness group invites you as we explore Paul’s letter to the Corinthians each Saturday morning from 8:15 – 9:30 a.m. in Room 121. For more information, call Art Varnes at 216-921-7457.

Staffing Changes at COTS

There are a number of changes in our church staff happening this spring. Loretta Dahlstrom asked to reduce her hours to pursue other passions, but remains our part-time bookkeeper. Chaz Cotton has accepted a full-time position as Music Director at First Baptist Church in Hampton, Virginia starting in May. Jill Phillips is stepping down from her role in modern worship as she pursues personal, professional, and musical interests. Debbie Johnson has accepted a full-time position with the Cleveland Clinic Center for Integrative and Lifestyle Medicine. Graham Rosen has taken an expanded role at COTS as Director of Production and Digital Content. We are currently in the process of hiring new staff for Communications Coordinator and Modern Worship leadership. We hope you’ll join us in celebrating all these amazing people, and continue to pray for our church staff through the transitions.
