Mill Lake Park Receives
Outstanding Planning Initiative Award
The City of Orange City and Tindale Oliver Design have received the Florida Planning and Zoning (FPZA) Outstanding Planning Initiative Award for Mill Lake Park Design & Construction.
Tindale Oliver Design was engaged to develop the Community Redevelopment Plan for the Orange City Community Redevelopment Area (CRA), and development of Mill Lake Park supports the CRA’s vision. This first Orange City civic park sets the foundation to spur economic growth in the Downtown Core and was designed to combine stormwater management with civic and recreational uses by employing filtration devices, green spaces, aquatic plants, and public fountains to sequester urban stormwater runoff. The park also will serve as a couplet to connect pedestrian and bicycle and multi-use trails to Blue Springs State Park and the Spring to Spring Trail.
The Mill Lake Park project is notable for demonstrating innovative and state-of-the-art planning methods and practices that have facilitated the implementation of the plan.
