Time is precious and the last thing you need to do is wade through emails and spend hours searching for the latest news trending in your industry. The Internet offers a limitless number of resources and I wanted to bring a few to your attention that you may not be aware of: Create a personal online newspaper of the topics you are interested in. The service is free. Spend a few moments selecting your areas of interest and then each day, via RSS feeds, your personal Trap It page will offer the latest and greatest.  Ever find yourself in need of showing your computer screen to a co-worker or customer but distance and time prohibit you from being in the same room? allows you to provide a customized access number to your peer and while you talk on the phone you can show them a presentation or view multiple web pages. They don't have access to your computer, but through their own screen can watch you navigate on yours.

IFTTT - "If This, Then That" is a great tool to sort through online information and only have the most pertinent come to your account. IFTTT works with Twitter, Facebook and all of the major sites and sifts through information to meet your needs. For example - if this (tweets about customer service) then that (post on my Twitter page).  Check it out - very cool.

Hoot Suite. Hoot suite pulls all of your social media accounts (except Google+) into one place to help you manage status updates, news streams and key word searches. However, I have had the opportunity to purchase the advanced service and I recommend it. Usually I say - go with the free account - but with Hoot Suite the extra $5.99/month allows you to schedule 50 status updates at a time and provides interesting reporting on your visibility.

August 2012
It has been a long while since the last Words People Read newsletter and I hope business and life have been good to you.

Over the course of the year new social media venues have cropped up like Pinterest and Instagram; Facebook went public and LinkedIn had a much needed facelift.

By now, you have most likely accepted the fact that social media is here to stay; but have to decided which vehicle is right for you?

I can help. Check out my social media strategy facilitation information. Let me help you and your team work through the options, determine your goals and then set a course for the best success.

How to Use Social Media to Promote Your Event

Earlier this year I put together an e-book outlining the different ways that social media can help you create buzz about your event and drive traffic. The book is available from Amazon to download on your e-reader or computer.

Use the event checklist and create a strategy for your next event.

How to Manage LinkedIn Invitations

I recently was asked this question: When I receive an invitation on LinkedIn and I don’t know the person – what should I do?

The first question I ask back is “What are you using LinkedIn to do for your business?” Visit The Social Media Roadmap for the complete article.
