October 2021 Member Newsletter

We're bbbaaacccckkkk! The season has been super busy, but it looks like we're back on a regular schedule with our monthly meetings. We've got a lot of information to relay, so make sure to refer back to this newsletter (or check out the member website) for information regarding upcoming events and members tasks that need to completed.
The City of Orange Beach will be hosted the first annual Freedom Fest this weekend, featuring live music, vendors, crafters, and more. The Auroras and the Marshals will be coordinating the "Let Freedom Run" ride for bikers and Jeepers in conjunction with the Freedom Fest. The route will go from Canal Road East from The Wharf, South on 161, East on Beach Blvd, and over Alabama Point Bridge, then return to The Wharf.

The event will be held on October 9th beginning at noon. If you are not already registered, you can register at the Orange Beach Event Center in the lobby between 10am and noon. Registration fees are $20 per vehicle (passengers ride for free). You can also register using this link: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/let-freedom-roar-run-and-rally-tickets-179320952797

We will be selling t-shirts for this event and the proceeds from the t-shirt sales will go to Youth Reach Gulf Coast. If you want to help with registration or any other aspect of the event, let Eva know.

Please come out and help support this event!

Incase you missed it...

  • The 2021 Swanky Gala was a *huge* success! We were able to donate $68,800 to the wonderful guys at Youth Reach Gulf Coast!!!! Youth Reach will be building a cabin for staff quarters and this money will definitely help them achieve that goal. They are even naming the new cabin in our honor! Read the Mullet Wrapper article about Swanky at this link: https://mulletwrapper.net/mystical-order-of-aurora-swanky-gala-2021-raises-68800-for-youth-reach-gulf-coast/
  • Jane Sims provided information regarding our financials. The current bank balance was $49, 542.00 and $2,896.00 in receivables. This puts us at a grand total of $52,438.00.
  • Tuxedos are in! There are still several people who have not tried on their jackets before Eva adds the bling to them. Eva will send out some times this week to come by her home and try them on. You won't need to make an appointment - just arrive during one of the scheduled times.
  • Blue jeans are still being collected by Terri to take to victims of Hurricane Ida. You can drop off good used jeans (of any gender or size, including kids) at Wildflowers Boutique off Canal Road in Orange Beach. You may also provide gift cards to these victims (Amazon gift cards or Visa gift cards are ideal) in any amount.
  • Four tickets to OWA were presented to the 2020 and 2021 Miss Tiffany girls (Annadelle and Marilyn). Both girls will be so excited to have a weekend of fun at OWA!

Speaking of Miss Tiffany...

Our 2020 Miss Tiffany, Annadelle Faulkner, recently participated in the Miss Shrimp Festival Pageant thanks to a sponsorship by the Auroras. She even made court! It was a busy but fun day for Annadelle, and she is truly grateful for the opportunity to participate.

Merchandise

Pre-ordered merchandise will no longer be offered at our member meetings. Instead, merchandise will be added to the website where you can place an order for individual items. Neeli and Eva will work on getting this done in the upcoming weeks.

In the meantime, there are a few items that are still available as long as supplies last. Those items include flags and beach towels, as well as a few discounted shirts and leggings.

We want to give a huge thank you to Martha for all of her hard work as the Ways and Means chair! Dragging merchandise and setting up at meetings was no easy task, but we appreciate her for it!
