This week has seen the launch of a fantastic new collection by Emily Wessel and Alexa Ludeman - better known as the brilliant Tin Can Knits. Heart On My Sleeve features eight striking jersey designs from some brilliant knitting designers, all of which can be made for any size from babies upwards, each with a heart theme.
The patterns were launched on Valentine's Day on the Heart on My Sleeve website and they're seriously stunning. Even better, this is a charity project: Emily and Alexa are donating all of the proceeds of the ebook sales to the Against Malaria Foundation.
Among the collection is Lionheart, a relaxed hoody created by Shannon Cook and Jane Richmond, with a delicate striped finish on the hood and sleeves. The children's version, pictured above, was knitted in our Dovestone dk in Coal and Aire - but would look stunning in any two shades. For a hoody to comfortably fit a child up to two years old, you'll need two hanks of your main colour and one of your contrast colour. For the same design in a medium adult size, you'll need six hanks of your main colour, and one of your contrast colour.
You'll find all the details of yarns and yardage on the Heart on My Sleeve website. Each design can be made in dk weight yarn at the same gauge, and they all begin with the same basic structure until you reach the yoke. This means you can pick a yarn in a colour you love and just start knitting, then decide which pattern to complete later on.
Emily and Alexa tell us they had great fun coming up with the collection and working with the designers. They also mentioned that the sample knitter who created the Lionheart hoody fell in love with our Dovestone dk, and hasn't stopped raving about it since! We're really proud to have our yarn featured in this collection and we hope you'll enjoy trying some of the great patterns - and supporting the Against Malaria Foundation too. Among the designers involved in the Heart on My Sleeve project are some familiar names. We've loved Ysolda Teague's work for a long time, and have a number of her patterns in stock. Click here to browse. In particular, she designed the Strokkur sweater (above) in our Dovestone Natural Aran collection.
Another of the designers involved in that collection was Bristol Ivy, who came up with the striking Winterlong scarf. She has also contributed a design to the Heart on My Sleeve project.
Alexa and Emily of Tin Can Knits themselves have also created some fabulous designs which are always popular with our customers, including the Low Tide cardigan and the Vivid blanket, both ideal with our Titus yarn. Click here to see more of their designs.
We love this sweater created by our Joelle, using one of our favourite new season designs.
She has used the Contemplation Sweater pattern from The Titus Vintage Collection, and combined it with the rich red of the festive Wesley Bob shade of Titus, for a stunning result.
Joelle had great fun knitting the sweater and we love the bright, eye-catching result - especially on a grey February day. She has already been getting compliments from customers visiting the shop!
