Congratulations to CYCA Good Works for Youth VISTA member, Marissa Copan, on receiving this year’s Colorado AmeriCorps*VISTA Member of the Year award. Melissa serves at Bluff Lake Nature Center and works on volunteer recruitment, fundraising, community outreach and relations, developing strategic partnerships, and program development. STEWARDSHIP IMPACT REPORT
A report released at Outdoor Stewardship Day at the Capitol on April 21, 2011 shows that accredited youth corps completed a whopping 38% of the volunteer stewardship work in the state in 2010. Volunteers, collectively, contributed 1.3 million hours of work on public lands in 2010. A Western Colorado Conservation Corps chainsaw crew joined Governor Hickenlooper and other dignitaries at a press conference to release the report. See report here.
