PREPARE - Pre-Emergency Planning and Recovery tool from HSB
Peak hurricane season in New England extends from mid-August to late October. When a hurricane or any major storm hits, electrical and other utility services are often disrupted. Working with our reinsurance partner The Hartford Steam Boiler Company (HSB), CIRMA is providing its members a series of online self-assessment tools and resources for equipment and building systems.
HSB's PREPARE online assessment tool is an information gathering system designed to guide municipal and school leadership and facilities staff in developing a plan of action for swift recovery after an emergency incident. The tool's purpose is to reduce the length of time between an incident and a return to normal operations. The PREPARE Online Assessment
covers:

  • General operational readiness
  • Electrical
  • Air conditioning & refrigeration
  • Boilers & pressure vessels
  • Computers & communications
  • Mechanical & production
  • Cyber & data breach

CIRMA encourages members to use the PREPARE Online Assessment tool to increase your municipality or school's operational readiness. Keeping current maintenance, repair and rental contact information for your equipment is essential.  Your PREPARE plan should be saved and made available in hard copy and electronic formats, reviewed and updated periodically, and shared with staff. (Please note: the HSB assessment portals are not compatible with Firefox browsers. Please access the portal via Internet Explorer, Chrome, Safari, or other browser.) Visit the PREPARE page on the CIRMA website for more information about the assessment tool.

PREPARE in advance for the unexpected -- take control by putting an emergency plan into place now with HSB's PREPARE Program.  For more information, please contact your CIRMA Risk Management consultant.
