Connecticut's Dam Safety Program
On October 1, 2013, changes to the Connecticut's Dam Safety Program will take effect. These changes will shift responsibility for periodic inspections from the state's Department of Energy and Environment Protection (DEEP) to the dam owner. Download our Municipal Dams: Changes to Connecticut's Dam Safety Program white paper to learn more about these changes to the state's program. CIRMA's Municipal Dams: A Risk Management Best Practice Guide provides dam owners a thorough discussion of the different types and structures of dams and levees, possible modes of failure, safety and inspection procedures, and the legal requirements of dam ownership.  Copies of the Best Practice Guide may be ordered from our Learning Resources Library.
