Changes to Reporting & Recordkeeping rule: January 1, 2015
The list of severe work-related injuries and illnesses that public-sector employers must report to CONN-OSHA will be expanded effective January 1, 2015. The updated rule requires that all public-sector employers report:
• Work-related fatalities – within 8 hours.
• Work-related inpatient hospitalizations – within 24 hours.
• Work-related amputations – within 24 hours.
• Work-related loss of an eye – within 24 hours.
To report these injuries, employers should call CONN-OSHA at: 860-263-6946 or 866-241-4060 (toll free).
CONN-OSHA's changes follow the recent changes made by OSHA. The changes will enable the agency to "more effectively focus its efforts to prevent fatalities and serious work-related injuries and illnesses. The final rule will also improve access by employers, employees, researchers and the public to information about workplace safety and health and increase their ability to identify and abate serious hazards."
If you have questions regarding the new Recordkeeping rule, please call CONN-OSHA at 860-263-6900, or visit the CONN-OSHA website.
