Longwoods essays are well read. Many of them come to us unsolicited. I thank Steven Lewis for setting the bar. His many essays are now available as an online book here: Influence: A Collection of Writings by Steven Lewis :: Longwoods.com. Enjoy. Appeals are now coming in asking for higher word counts. Authors tell us that they have too much to say and can’t keep to 500 words. If you want to write longer material consider our journals as your medium and submit it to our editorial director for review. You can reach her here. Editorial Director. Online material should be sent to thepublisher@longwoods.com

What’s in a Name?
Bridgepoint Health – in Toronto’s east end -- has just been rebranded. This coincides with the opening of their new building. They are now: Bridgepoint Active Healthcare. In beautiful Victoria, the Royal Jubilee Patient Care Centre has a very descriptive name and it is also called the Royal Jubilee Hospital. Are these two organizations? In New Brunswick it’s the Horizon Health Network. Or . . .Saint John Regional Hospital. Take your pick. In Toronto, it's Princess Margaret Hospital, Toronto Rehab, Toronto General Hospital and Toronto Western Hospital - all one organization governed by one board. (Each area of care is also named.) So what’s in a name? David Ogilvy - one of the greatest names in advertising says your brand should be about “what you do and who it’s for”. What do you think? Write an essay about the branding of your healthcare facility / organization and the reasoning behind it. Email: thepublisher@longwoods.com
