Low-paid or unpaid internships for current University students and new grads are a launch pad to a paid, full-time position in a chosen career.
The Ottawa Hospital developed an evidence-based nursing internship program to meet the challenges of new graduates. The literature suggests many challenges that they face during their transition from student to new graduate, with a turnover estimated as high as 60%.
