NOVO Festival 2012 Announced

Baltimore, MD -- January 4, 2012-- The WindUp Space and Mobtown Studios proudly announce the 3rd annual NOVO Instrumental Music Festival on March 9th and 10th at The Windup Space (12 W. North Avenue). An artist submission form is now available online at Submissions must be received by February 1, 2012.

The Station North venue, awarded "Best New Bar" by the City Paper, and the Charles Village studio, named one of the "101 Things to See, Eat & Do Before You Die" by Baltimore Magazine, are joining forces once again for a unique showcase of instrumental musicians (with no vocals, hence the name NOVO) from all over the country as well as Baltimore's own exciting local music scene.

The biggest change for NOVO in its third year is the decision to pack the festival into two dynamic days, condensing it from the previous years' five-night line-up. "We decided this time around that it would be more exciting to have two long days," says NOVO producer and Mobtown co-owner Mat Leffler-Schulman, "to have a greater variety of acts playing back-to-back on the same day." To accommodate that ambitious plan, NOVO will be utilizing two alternating stages inside the Windup Space for a virtually constant program of music; as soon as an act finishes on one stage, a new set will begin on the other stage.

This year, NOVO is planning to expand its horizons and find more regional and international instrumental acts to feature. To that end, the 2012 festival has been scheduled as a convenient stopover en route to the South By Southwest festival and an online Call for Artists form has been created that artists can use to submit themselves for consideration in the 2012 line-up. All types of music are welcome as long as there are no vocals!
