Eighty-four thousand six hundred and one

357.That’s the number of Utahns who purchased insurance on healthcare.gov during the entire month of October. We knew five of them well. And we could have squeezed the rest into a tennis court.

But fast forward several months to mid-March and 357 Utahns were picking a plan on healthcare.gov every nine hours. Almost 45,000 signed up after March 1st.

In all, 84,601 Utahns got insured through healthcare.gov by April 19. The story of how Utah got there is a tale worth telling—and learning from. After all, we’ll need to do it again starting November 15th.
