Dearest Words Alouders
It's been quite the age since we were last in touch.
Words Aloud proper ended in 2008 after two glorious years. In 2012 there was a one-off special. We've missed you terribly.
But some good news.
We will soon (very soon) be bringing you another standalone Words Aloud and this time we have a very special theme: ageing.
What's it like to grow older? What alternative perspectives on ageing are there? How do we humans cope with the difficulties of getting old?
This Words Aloud event is one of six events run by Silent Cities (Justine's social enterprise) for South Yorkshire Housing and Sheffield's Ageing Better partnership. The poems and stories will help inform Sheffield's Fulfilling Lives, Ageing Better bid to the Big Lottery.
If successful, Sheffield could attract up to £6 million to reduce social isolation and loneliness among older people in Sheffield. Which can't be a bad thing.
This one-off Words Aloud is coming your way at the beginning of February. Not long! We're just finalising a date and venue and will be in touch soon.
If you'd like to come along and perform, just like old times, email firstname.lastname@example.org to book your slot. If you think someone you know might be interested, do forward them this email.
And don't forget that in this modern age, you can follow us on Twitter and like our page on Facebook. Imagine!
That's it for now!
A thousand cuddles,
The Words Aloud team x
