Start the school year writing. Use this collection of images related to school to generate discussion and ideas with your new writers. What does this picture make you think of? Write about it! FREE!
Read your students a book that illustrates the importance of names. Select a book from our collection of 10 book reviews that explore the relevance of names. FREE!
Let students interview each other. Let students complete a personality profile with a new friend to find out which celestial body best matches their personalities. Are they solid & reliable like a terrestrial planet, fast & adventurous like a comet, or great companions like the moon? Create and display a classroom galaxy with our 8 tools (3 shown) that are both beautiful and scientifically accurate. **FOR MEMBERS**
Teach students the names of their new friends. Ask students to record the names of everyone in the classroom on the hands on this image. They can take home the list of friends on the first day of school. On day two, give students another copy and see how many names they can remember! **FOR MEMBERS**
Show students how to "Shake & Share." Let students write about themselves on one hand, introduce themselves to a friend, and then write about the new friend on the other hand. Students can then use the "Shake & Share" tool to introduce each other to the class. **FOR MEMBERS**
