"Pressing" forward with the important book work!

This is a work that should be done. The end is near. Already much time has been lost, when these books should have been in circulation. Sell them far and near. Scatter them like the leaves of autumn. .... Souls are perishing out of Christ. Let them be warned of His soon appearing in the clouds of heaven.--Review and Herald, Aug. 13, 1908.

Report submitted by Tamara Schoch, Assistant Publishing Director for Kibidula:

I am looking through what has happened in the last 7 months since my last report regarding publishing.  Many publications which were in the preparation phases then, are now printed and will soon be ready for distribution.  The Swahili version of Steps to Christ, Victory in Christ, Health and Happiness, Helping Your Marriage, and You-Turn (many chapters from the Health Power book) are printed and should arrive in port next week.  Thank you for your prayers.

The progress for the GLOW tracts and Pocket Signs tracts has been delayed by numerous challenges with the presses.  This work must be very important for us to be facing numerous challenges such as we have seen in the last many months!  Even with these challenges we are moving forward, even if at a pace much less than that which we had hoped for.  We know that God’s timing is perfect and we will continue to move forward.  Four tracts are waiting to be printed, seven are waiting for layout by the press department, and the remaining 16 are in the last stages just before the ones just mentioned.

The book container with 57,475 Swahili books did arrive in August and many of those have already been distributed through the literature evangelism programs.

We again have three new books that have been translated.  One is waiting for final approval through the local Union publishing house.  The second is waiting for layout (for me to do). The third is in the final edit phase.  In addition to these, the editors/translators have been busy translating the My Bible First Bible studies, Nature Lessons, Object Lessons, and Nature Corner lessons.  They have been working rapidly, and four books (one mentioned above) are waiting for final layout, which I hope to move forward with this coming month.

The demand for Swahili message books is very high, and we are privileged to be part of the work to meet those needs.

In the last report I mentioned that in 2014 36,768 books were distributed and 80,521 for the year 2015.  I joyfully report that in 2016, we distributed 114,465 books!  This is a 311.3% increase over 2014 and a 142.16% increase over 2015!

Thank you each one for your prayers as we seek to put quality message books into the hands of those that desire them.  A significant portion of these books is the most important book – the Bible.  I know my part is small in all of this, but I am thankful to get to play that small part in helping make the Bible and these other books available to so many people.

Again, these numbers I am reporting do not include the number of Bible study tracts or sharing tracts that are distributed by Kibidula.

A special thank you to those who have been donating to the Bible Fund.  Another 1085 Bibles have been purchased for free distribution to those who need them most.

We have a fund in place to receive donations to provide Bibles for newly baptized people. Bibles often are a large expense for many financially challenged people in this country.  We feel that it is important for those who have decided to follow Jesus to have the opportunity to read His Word on a regular basis.  You can help make this goal a reality.  At the current exchange rate, every $5 will provide ONE Bible for someone who might not otherwise be able to purchase one.   Currently our goal is to receive enough donations every year to give out at least 600 Bibles.  If we exceed this goal, we will give out more Bibles!  Please consider helping in this area.
