Director's report - an overall perspective

(The following article was adapted from our director's annual report as he is too busy working to sit down and write an article right now.  Thank you Ray for putting this together for us!)

Kibidula from 30,000 feet elevation…

While neither of our aircraft will reach this altitude (nor have they been off the ground in months) I want to give you the eagle’s eye view of Kibidula.  Our Heavenly Father continues to sustain us through the commitment of our dedicated faculty and staff and the sacrifices that you the friends of Kibidula make.  Some of you send large gifts, and many others are sending all that you can and/or prayers.  We believe that you are all doing it with a heart for supporting God’s work.

We continue our search for excellence in a “True Education” model for all of our schools and training centers on campus.  By God’s grace we had Joshua White with us this past March 2016 for an intensive seminar.  And he has accepted an invitation to return in January 2017 for several months of practical application, mostly as this applies to our Primary School.  But his time here will be profitable for the other schools as well.

As with all changes in personnel there is both sadness and excitement as an era closes and another opens.  In 2015, sadly the Thomas Riederer family, Jean-Luc Waber family, and Phinisus Wawira all left us after many years of dedicated service.  This has left many duties to be covered by the existing staff.  In the absence of Jean-Luc, Edger Shitundu has stepped up as the director of the Agricultural Training School and has built a strong supportive staff.  Fulgenzio Mgimwa and Obed Kayugwa have returned from their university training and are adding value as faculty who already understand the True Education concepts.  Doug Schoch has taken over both the accounting and treasurer workload; please pray with us as we look at our present staff for prospects to train into accounting.  The Ray Cootz family joined us the end of April 2016, he will work in office administration.

Construction was begun in July 2016 on a One-Day-School complex that will house our secondary school.  It is through the help of our generous donors that this is coming to reality.  Please pray with us that the Lord of the Harvest will send us workers and teachers to support this endeavor.  We already have 18 students enrolled in the Secondary School and we are running the Qualifying Test program which is an adult or high school dropout training and testing program to get a Form 4 certificate.

The Kibidula Farm avocado orchards are producing and shipping locally and as far as Dar Es Salaam.  The orchard soil has been tested and a mix of minerals, trace elements, and fertilizer created to build up the soil.  The goal is to produce an export grade fruit from all our orchards.  This is one industry that by God’s grace will provide work-study positions and income to support the Kibidula organization.

In July 2016 the campus Fellowship Hall was complete enough to allow us to begin church services on campus.  This has been a blessing to many of the students in the Agriculture Training School since the walk to the off campus church was more than an hour long.  We have also started a campus potluck after church and this has brought our students and staff closer together.

As of August 2016, Bill Bosse and Joel Mbonea have moved their printing presses along with all the supplies and binding equipment to the new print shop building!  Bill has even moved into the connected one-bedroom apartment and is enjoying hot showers from the new solar water heater on the roof.

We desire your prayers from any altitude.  For it is in prayer that our attitude is adjusted and our needs are adjusted and we gain such altitude as to reach the presence of our Heavenly Father.  And in His presence covered by the perfect life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, our big bother, we find acceptance and strength for each day.
