My Ancestor Was A ... Student

studentsEneclann's researchers bring you another occupations research tip this newsletter. This time on how to find out more about your student ancestors, including how to get the most out of college and boarding school (Form G) returns in the 1901 and 1911 Irish census.

County Focus

KerryIf you're trying to trace ancestors in County Kerry then these titles might be able to help you. County Kerry Past and Present is an essential source for local and family history, with information on places and family names. Selections from Old Kerry Records contains earlier genealogical information, for example, details of those who lost their lands in the 1688 forfeitures, but also later records such as gravestone inscriptions and pedigrees. A Pictorial and Descriptive Guide to Killarney, the Kerry Coast, Glengariff, Cork and the South West of Ireland and Smith's Ancient and Present State of the County of Kerry are great for history and topography, while Cusack's History of the Kingdom of Kerry does this and gives pedigrees for key Gaelic-Irish families. The Munster directories we have cover Kerry and span the years 1824-1894. As always, you can view the full range of Kerry titles and visit our shop to see what publications we have for other Irish counties.
