2020 has been a challenging year for all of us, and we have each felt the impact of increased restrictions on our daily lives, our families, our relationships, as well as our emotional and psychological well-being.

For over 3,000 refugees living in the Epirus region of Greece, restrictions put in place in response to the Covid-19 pandemic have meant not only added difficulties in accessing basic supplies and essential services, but have also led to delays in their asylum procedures and additional restrictions on individuals living in refugee camps. The majority of refugees and asylum seekers in Greece do not have access to legitimate education or employment pathways, psychological support or dignified living conditions. Now, more than ever, there is a need for solidarity with and support for the refugee community.

Habibi.Works is an intercultural makerspace and platform for education, empowerment and social encounters in Katsikas, Greece. It is run by Soup & Socks e.V. - a German non-profit organisation that has been operating in Greece since 2015. Habibi.Works consists of ten different workshop spaces - among others, a wood workshop, a metal workshop, a bicycle repair station, a MediaLab, a sewing atelier, and a community kitchen.
The doors of Habibi.Works are open not only to refugees and asylum seekers in the area, but also to Greek locals and international visitors; as individuals from all walks of life share space and co-create side by side, bridges are built between communities. Users of our space - or 'makers' - are free to use all the working areas free of charge to collaborate and co-create whichever project they envision, sharing their skills with fellow makers as well as learning new ones with guidance from our international team of experts. You can find out more on our website.
Habibi.Works supports people in creating solutions for their individual needs. With your help, we can continue to offer an important platform which not only empowers individuals and improves their physical and psychological well-being, but also facilitates integration into their host context.

Your support is invaluable. Find out more about how you can help here.
