What's New at the Store

by Melisa Clark, Store Manager

Thanksgiving turkeys were gobbled up in November helping the Co-op achieve record sales for the second month in a row, up 19% over last year! That makes double digit growth for the past 11 months!

All that rapid growth has been accompanied by some growing pains so please bear with the Co-op Staff as we hustle to keep apace with this phenomenal trend. If you have any concerns, questions or suggestions please track me down and talk to me. Your feedback is welcome and important to our staff as we strive to create a healthy, friendly and thriving store for our owners and our community.

New Products: Check out our fresh packaged meats in the perishables cooler or take home a Mary's organic rotisserie chicken made daily in the Co-op Deli!

Thanks to all 891 of our Co-op Owner households for your support throughout the year.
Happy Holidays from the Co-op staff!
The Co-op, together we own it!

Calling All Volunteers!
by Julie Silvey
Thanks to the volunteers who helped with Empty Bowls and the Holiday Market this past month,

as well as the many other tasks that our volunteers take part in.  From Chamber of Commerce participation to sweeping parking lots and patios, we all work together for the good of OUR co-op!

Misc. Volunteering Opportunities:

The PNFC board is still in need of  a Minutes/Notetaker for their monthly meetings.  This is a four-hour-a-month job: two hours of meeting (almost always the last Monday evening of the month) and another two hours writing up the notes and going through an editing process with the Secretary and a couple other Board members.  If you have good grammar and spelling, and especially if you have some experience in minute taking, this could be an interesting volunteer position for you.  The volunteer will get help, support and clarifications, as needed, during the meeting.  We would like to have a commitment of a full year.

What’s all this about profitability?  All businesses need to be

profitable and a cooperative is no exception.  Many businesses, including co-ops, are not profitable in the first few years.

Not yet being profitable means that PNFC can’t keep shelves full of all you want in stock, can’t adequately compensate its employees, and can’t do many things in the community that we would like.
