Owner Services News
by Julie Silvey, julie@placervillecoop.org.
The co-op’s new fiscal year has begun, some great changes have taken place
and others are in the works!  As announced in the September Gleanings, PNFC has reached the point in its growth and development that has enabled us to convert to the patronage dividend model, meaning that patronage dividends will be paid to owners, at the end of each profitable year, in the form of store credit.

In addition to this potential to earn dividends, there are some fun, new things you will notice when you shop.  Though we are no longer offering the twice-monthly 10% discounts or the High 5 program, in each of the store’s departments you will see items labeled “Owner Priced Item”...

What's New at the Store

by Melisa Clark, General Manager

As October rolls in with cooler

temperatures the Co-op is preparing to celebrate our third year in business! Yeah, Happy Birthday Placerville Co-op! We are throwing a Birthday Party at the store on October 18th from 10-4. Free goodies, food, drawings for gift baskets and tons of fun for the whole family. Come and celebrate with us!

The Co-op now offers reusable bags at the register. Our new use-wash-return program let's you borrow or purchase a cloth bag to take your groceries home. You can buy one for $1.00 or just borrow one and return it the next time you come to the store. If you would like to donate some of the cloth bags that you have but no longer use that would be great. The Co-op would save over $20,000.00 a year if we all used a cloth bag instead of paper.

by Twyla Teitzel
Happy Birthday to us! Come and celebrate our third birthday

on Saturday, October 18, 2014 from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm.  Food, prizes, raffles and giveaways.  Come join the fun.  We need about 10 volunteers for this event.  Please contact Twyla if you would like to help!  Two and four hour shifts available.

We need 12 volunteers for the Hangtown Halloween Ball.  This volunteer opportunity fills up fast and our number of volunteer spots are limited, so please contact Twyla now if you would like to volunteer.

Halloween at the Co-op.  All kids (12 and under) who are in costume and visit the co-op from 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm will receive a treat!

We love doing outreach to our local schools.  If your school would like us to come and talk to your students about organic food, eating healthy, food is fun, etc. please contact me.

From the Board
By Ruthie Loeffelbein

Our Co-op’s End Statement tells what our ultimate goals are  -  in other words, the end results PNFC is

working toward. I love our Ends and want you to be familiar with them.  All our work (management, staff, board, volunteers, all other owners) is leading to:

  1. A friendly retail store that satisfies customers
  2. A strong & healthy economy
  3. A thriving & profitable cooperatively-owned business
  4. Sustainable practices

My favorite End is the first one....
