Message from Joe Childers
Placerville Food CO-OP
Board President
This has been a busy summer for the store and its Board of Directors.
In July, we saw the departure of our former General Manager, Dan Arnett. With this, the Board began a national search for a new GM. The search has been going well, and we interviewed some excellent applicants.
We hope to be able to announce a new hire very soon.
Our department managers Kristi Speir and Haley Kenobbie volunteered to take on the roles of interim GM and interim assistant GM, respectively during this time. They did an outstanding job, but were glad to get back to their regular duties as soon as it was possible.
Regina Miranda has returned as Interim General Manager on August 1. As many of you know, Regina is the former GM of the Placerville CO-OP and had been elected to the Board of Directors in April’s election. In an act of true loyalty and concern for the CO-OP, Regina resigned from the Board and volunteered to take on the GM role while we complete our search.
Huge thanks to Kristi and Haley for accepting such big responsibilities for a bit longer than we had planned and heartfelt gratitude to Regina for stepping in to provide some timely, much-needed relief to Kristi and Haley, for offering her considerable expertise and for helping us to maintain some managerial continuity during this transition.

April’s Board of Directors' election ushered in several new Board members who bring with them great experience from a variety of professional fields. Among the major objectives for the coming year is more outreach to our owners and our community. Especially as we begin to move out of this strange year of Covid, it is important that we re-establish our connections, that we hear from you about your expectations and desires for the CO-OP, and that you hear from us regularly about the CO-OP’s successes--and sometimes its challenges. Be sure to check out the bios of all the Board members on the CO-OP's updated website.
Another result of the election was Sarah Jones’ stepping down as president after three remarkable years in that position. Coming in after Sarah, I can only say that I hope I can be half as effective as she was. I feel particularly fortunate that she remains on the Board and is an amazing source of great insight and experience for all of us as we do all we can to help the CO-OP be the best it can be.

The CO-OP continues to monitor and track the regulatory agencies regarding COVID. As per CDC guidance, we are encouraging all customers to wear masks in all areas with high & substantial COVID-19 transmission rates. Due to the recent surge in Covid cases + back to school + cold/flu season, we are requiring that all staff wear a mask, regardless of vaccination status. Our management team will review county/state data every week and re-evaluate our staff policy weekly. We care about the well-being of our staff, members and community, as well as providing a safe and comfortable shopping environment. We truly appreciate your ongoing cooperation and support.
Looking forward to a great fall and celebrating the upcoming 10th anniversary of the PFC!
Joe Childers
