WELCOME CHRISTINE SAZAMA
PLACERVILLE FOOD CO-OP GENERAL MANAGER

Well, we are nearly halfway through October. It is the Co-op’s birthday month, and this year we are ten. As most of you know, to help guide us into our new decade, we have brought on Christine Sazama as the Placerville Food Co-op’s new general manager.

We found Christine as a result of a national search, but ironically, she lives right here in Placerville, having arrived in 2020. Although she is relatively new to the foothill area, she is a veteran of Coop management. She started as a central store manager at Harmony Natural Foods Co-op in Bemidji, Minnesota in 2010. During her time in that role, the store nearly doubled in sales. From 2016-2020, she worked as a very successful division manager for Mississippi Market Natural Foods Co-op, a co-op in St. Paul Minnesota that has three separate locations serving that area. Since 2020, she has worked on the supplier side of things, as the Northern California representative for KeHe, one of the main distributors of natural foods and groceries to stores like the PFC.

We feel very fortunate that Christine will be bringing her experience to the PFC and that she decided to leave distribution behind, get back to the Co-op side of the equation, and join us as our manager. We are excited about the energy and knowledge she is bringing with her to the store. Her first official day is October 11, so if you have an opportunity, stop by the store, say hello, and let her know how happy we are that she has become a member of the PFC family!

Regina Miranda

This is a tough goodbye...Regina has been our backbone since 2015). We will miss her leadership, passion, and co-op loyalty in so many ways but wish her the very best on her move to Portland.

Regina has worked tirelessly to make the coop a great place to shop and a great place to work! Everything she does is with the intention of making the coop better than before. She has consistently shown up in ways that I will forever be grateful for. She has been the best manager/general manager that I have had and I will miss her immensely. She has helped me to grow personally and professionally and will always be an inspiration to me!

Haley has been at the Co-op for 6 years, you may have seen her at the register or stocking the shelves. She has a real passion for coops and has enjoyed her time at PFC. Her favorite part has been getting to know people of the community whether it be shoppers or her coworkers. Haley has always been a positive force in the store and is always willing to help in any manner!

Y2K baby and the registers and computers did not crash!! All kidding aside, we are excited to announce our 2,000 owner/member of the Placerville Food Co-op. Let us introduce you to Diana Mackey, she just moved back to Placerville, she grew up in Apple Hill!!️ Diane worked at Flying V Farms this season thinning their apple orchards. She is passionate about growing food, local food, and community and is so happy to be a part of the Placerville Co-op fambam. We are thrilled to have her join us!!

Welcome Ali LaVanway

Ali's been a loyal co-op member since 2012, when her family moved to the area. For the past 3 years, she's supported businesses of various sizes in Operations roles, so a move to PFC's administrative and HR department was a natural transition. Ali's background in music education and performance means there is usually singing and/or tap dancing in the upstairs offices.
