What a beautiful show of Spring all around.  That reminds me, have you seen the wonderful native flowers at the front of the parking lot?  Many thanks to all the hands that helped to assure the Spring bloom!  Shirley (photo by Bridget Loera)

Breakfast with Bill

Every third Thursday of the month at 8 am upstairs in the Co-op Community Room Bill Scrivani, PNFC Board

Have Ideas?  Bring them along.

What's New at the Store -  From Melisa, Our General Manager

Thanks to all 748 of our Owners The Co-op is busier than ever! Spring has everyone out shopping for fresh organic produce, locally made cheeses, salsa, cheese cakes and more! The Co-op Staff is hustling to keep up with the increased demand and will be getting some much needed help with an additional employee in the Deli and a designated Stocking Coordinator to make sure products throughout the store are available at all times. We will be extending store hours, staying open until 8:00pm Monday through Saturday for our customers who are driving through town a little later on these long sunny days.

We are also busy with many activities outside the store including Earth Week Activities at Folsom Lake College EDC on the 16th and 18th, Earth Day 2013 on April 20th at the Placerville Branch Library, and Family Fit and Fun Day in June.  Farmer's Markets are starting in May and we are looking for volunteers.

Next time you are at the store enjoy a fresh juice under the new canopy in the sunny outdoor eating area. Bon Appetite!
New Bulletin Board
A new Customer Communication Bulletin Board is located in the rear of the store across from the soup counter near the Deli. Leave us your written requests or questions on the board and a staff member will respond with a written reply within 24 hours. Together we can make the store you want it to be!
The Rummage Sale was a great success, with proceeds of over $1,000 - thank you for all your help!

From the High5Kitchen
April marks the sixth month anniversary for the High5Pick Program where members receive a 15% daily discount for 5 Picks throughout each month.

As Placerville Natural Foods Co-op continues to support and celebrate a return to whole foods I would like to thank all those who have helped make the High5Pick program happen from the Board of Directors, who approved it, to the store staff who implemented it and the numerous co-op members who have helped in big and little ways and all the member-owners who believed in the concept--healthy whole foods at affordable prices.

By the way, have you noticed our produce section lately? Justin Barbu has done a terrific job-- not only is it fresh and abundant but all of it is organic and he's been able to provide us with more local produce. You can read about it in your e-pub, the Best of Bits & Bites, where we cover local growers and more.

For more information about the High5Pick program or if you want to help or have suggestions
Enjoy! Chris

Shirley's Corner -  Volunteer Opportunities

Upcoming Events  -

Call or email Shirley Woods at 530-620-3229 shirleyjwoods@gmail.com

Silkscreening T-shirts  - Remember silkscreening? On Friday, April 19, 11 a.m.,we will be silk-screening t-shirts upstairs at the Co-op.  Let me know if you can come- should be lots of fun!

Pet Day at the Co-op -  On April 27 we will be hosting a special day here for animal lovers.  We need helpers starting at 9:30 a.m. for event set-up, 3:30 for break down and folks throughout the day who can help keep vendors and visitors--both animals and humans--happy!

Wanted: Co-op Historian -  Like scrapbooking? Putting photos in albums? The Co-op needs a volunteer to keep and organize flyers, news articles, ads, paper memorabilia of all sorts – so that we can record our own history.

No need for fancy scrapbooking--you can just put items neatly on the pages, with labels and dates. Our historian doesn’t even have to gather all the memorabilia; other Co-op members will naturally help by putting items in a History Box at the market. There’s even a back-log of early Co-op “stuff” currently existing in a place or two.

Weeding -  This job calls for those familiar with native plants and can keep our new flower bed free of invasive plants. Plan your own schedule and meet with Verne Pershing, our Landscape Pro.

Thanks again Everyone!  See you here at the Co-op. Shirley

Thanks to Tripp Mikich, Chris Smith, Shirley Woods, Melisa Clark, and many more for so much help putting out this newsletter. This was truly a community project. Just like the Co-op, this is an example of the creativity we are capable of when we work together. - Gary Clark
