Greetings co-op members & shoppers,
The holiday season is upon us, the store is bustling with holiday shopping and countless local offerings! It is also a great time to express gratitude. Thank you to everyone who attended our Annual Meeting in October and to everyone who voted in our elections. We will announce our new board members at our December meeting.
Our board, our staff, and our management thanks you for being part of Placerville Food Co-op. We are grateful for our co-op family—for the kindness we get from our shoppers, to offering support during challenging times, and for the continued dedication to working together for a sustainable community. The fabric of the PFC community is strong and we are truly grateful.
Supporting your local food co-op gives you much to be proud of: we are a fair community employer; we recycle, compost, and donate food to reduce waste; we have food for every body: we support local vendors and farmers; and we operate independently and democratically. These tenets differentiate us from other grocers, other corporations, and most other businesses.
Plus, no other grocers in Placerville make food from scratch like we do. From breakfast burritos to hot soup to our new to-go meals, there’s simply nothing like it. Our food service staff put in countless hours preparing healthful and delicious food for you. We have product standards that clearly outline our commitment to the highest quality food at the best price.
Thank you all for supporting us, and in turn supporting all of the small businesses, farmers, and vendors we purchase from - it is truly a cooperative effort. Cheers to 2019!
Remember, Owner Discount day will be on the 10th of each month beginning in January!

FROM THE BOARD
As the year comes to a close we reflect on what has transpired over the last 12 months. For the first time, the co-op had a record profitable year! For the first 6 years of operation, we didn't do much better than breaking even, so this is an exciting milestone. We've seen lots of changes over the last year, many of which are based on decisions made by your elected Board of Directors. Of course, we have to give credit where credit is due. Thanks to our wonderful staff and management who make this place tick, and many thanks to you, for your loyalty and patronage! As we transition into the new year the board is seeking member-owners to participate in our Long Range Planning Committee. If you are interested in the direction the co-op is going please contact board@placervillefoods.coop. We value your input and are enthusiastic about our continued success in 2019!
