Global Carbon Reward
Dear Friends,

Welcome to the second newsletter of the Global Carbon Reward Initiative. The GCR website was successfully launched on World Environment Day (5th June 2021). Our launch was followed by one of the most important GCR presentations to date: Webinar #3. This webinar includes four experts in international finance, central banking, blockchains and FinTech. We are also delighted to announce three new members of our Advisory Committee. Finally, this newsletter has information on our weekly Clubhouse session.

The GCR Initiative was officially launched on 5 June 2021. The website is now live, just in case you haven't noticed!
Webinar #3:  Is a Carbon Currency Feasible?

This webinar was hosted by Dr. Claire Nelson as part of the Smart Caribbean Gathering: A Futures Brainfest (7 June 2021). In this webinar, Dr. Delton Chen describes the proposed “carbon currency". The moderator and the three discussants are experts central banking, FinTech and blockchain technologies. The discussants were generally very positive about the Global Carbon Reward, and the consensus was that it was technically feasible. News:  New Members of the GCR Advisory Committee

We warmly welcome Dr. Julien Leyre, Dr. Claire Nelson, and Kirstin Miller to the GCR Advisory Committee.
Dr. Claire Nelson is a futurist, sustainability engineer, creative strategic thinker and change agent. Claire has been very busy in June, having organised a series of live webinars for the National Caribbean-American Heritage Month. Watch out for her upcoming interview with Kim Stanley Robinson, the author of "The Ministry for the Future"

Dr. Julien Leyre recently completed a PhD in cultural studies at Monash University, Australia. Julien's doctorate doctorate explored digital Chinese language learning as a distributed global public good in the making. Julien is very active in addressing systemic challenges, governance innovation, education design, and digital community building, 

Kirstin Miller is the Executive Director of Ecocity Builders. Kirstin works locally and internationally to establish access to ecocity knowledge, and to link separate knowledge pools through joint research, consulting services, and partnerships. Kirstin is an international presenter on ecocity design, technology, development and citizen participation.
Weekly Event:  Clubhouse

Do you know how to join Clubhouse? You will need an Apple or Android phone or tablet, and you will need to send your mobile number to a friend who is already a member of Clubhouse. If you email with your mobile number and details, we can invite you into Clubhouse.

You will then need to search for our room, which is called "Carbon Reward and UN SDGs". We meet every Wednesday at 2 pm, Pacific Daylight Time (PDT). The session goes for two hours. Its a great opportunity to ask questions, and the conversation can lead anywhere.
