It's been a great beginning of the year for me. How about you?
Last week, a friend and I started out on a trip across town, from about 10 minutes north of Arlington, TN, all the way around I-240 down I-55 to the Olive Branch area. I'm old enough that I remember when traveling to a destination that you weren't familiar with - even if it was in your hometown- required that your host/hostess had to give you specific directions. you had to hope they were easy to follow.
All I can say is YAY! for technology. Now the information is at our fingertips via our smartphones, and it's getting more and more sophisticated. The app I use, WAZE, is a great optional tool; it has several extras over just using Google Maps.
As we traveled around the interstate, WAZE informed me of the traffic accidents that would affect me, showed me alternate routes (only if they time difference was significant), and even allowed me to thank people that reported accidents, hazards, and traffic slows downs. Or I get thanked when I submit one.
This is a very social app, allowing the commuters to help each other with travel. If you haven't checked it out, I suggest you do.
Right now this is the state of my life and business; I'm moving right along, letting the flow of traffic help me along and pausing momentarily to input my directions.
What else is going on?
My MOTTO for this year is 'This is the year I STOP trading my hours for dollars.'
There are several ways to do this, and this is the year that I create products that I can sell. Don't get me wrong, I love assisting my marketing clients with coaching and consulting, and LOVE one to one interactions. Yet we all need other ways to bring in extra income.
How am I doing that?
I am really excited because I have some projects in the works and a couple more sitting waiting for me to get started on them.
Here are more details:
I've launched a new Workshop, I'm in the process of getting a Toastmaster group off the ground, and I'm THRILLED that the Events list is up and running.
On Monday, Jan 17, 2017, I launched a new product! Whew. I was bone-tired afterward. But very excited! Yea!! The first session of our ‘Workshop to Mastermind Group - Create Your Own Product!’ was exciting and successful.
Let me backtrack a minute. Many of you know that in the fall of 2016, I earned a Business Coaching certification. During that course, I met and became friends with Carol Soldevilla. Of the 11 women that were in the group, only a few of us had already been in business. Carol and I really connected, and when the class was done, we started talking about what we wanted to do to launch our coaching.
Both of us had expressed an interest in running and being part of a Mastermind group. And one day, in the last quarter of 2016, we got on the phone- oh I didn’t tell you, she lives in Massachusetts and I live in Tennessee- and started a discussion on Mastermind groups.
We quickly determined that it was important to find other ways to bring income into our businesses. As much as we loved coaching, there we were, just trading hours for dollars. We felt that having products that continually brought in income were what we needed.
We quickly saw that we had similar goals. We found that we complemented each other, in past experience and in our areas of expertise. Working together was a natural conclusion, and we made the decision to launch a product together. Our joint effort is The Coaches Mastermind*. If you are interested, you can check out more about this entity and both of us.

Even though our primary goal had been to launch a new product for ourselves, we quickly realized the potential for duplication. After conversations with other coaches and therapists, it was clear that there was a potential market for this.
What was born out of our conversations was our ‘Workshop to Mastermind Group’ product. There are 3 segments to this product.
At the end of the course, participants have a step-by-step guide to creating future products and a group of business people to collaborate with, have discussions with, and ask advice from.
- The first segment centers around the workshop portion, where the participants work on creating their own product, whether that is a Mastermind group, email course, webinar, speaking series, etc.
- In the second segment, participants host a meeting based on one of the content modules they created during the workshop portion.
- In the 3rd & final segment, the group transitions into a Mastermind group.
Carol and I host live meetings twice a month, over a 6 month period. We are taking inquiries for the next workshop and hope to have details ironed out shortly.
Get on the email list to be the first to hear about it.
