Lake Champlain Sea Grant - Expressions of Interest Request for Research Program
The Lake Champlain Sea Grant is issuing a request for expressions of interest for applied research to improve understanding, use, and management of Lake Champlain and Lake George, the basin's inland waters and the Great Lakes in general.   For more information, please visit the Lake Champlain Sea Grant research page and review their strategic plan

OH Sea Grant - Request for Proposals for 2018-2020 Research Projects

This year Ohio Sea Grant’s main priorities for funding include:

  • Crude Oil Transport (e.g., risk, economic evaluation of transport methods, outreach and education materials for risk evaluation, spill and emergency preparedness)
  • Pharmaceuticals and Personal Care Products (e.g., impacts to biota, ability of both wastewater and water treatment facilities to address these issues, concentrations within receiving waterbodies)
  • Tourism and Coastal Economic Development (e.g., market and nonmarket value of the Lake Erie watershed)
  • Aquaculture (e.g., research and extension efforts that support improvements in nutrition, reproduction, larval rearing, and genomics that seek to address questions, barriers, or hurdles impeding the advancement of aquaculture initiatives)
  • Sensor Technology Development (e.g., nutrient and toxin sensors)
  • Environmental Economics

IL-IN Sea Grant - Non-Native Weatherfish are Discovered in Roxana Marsh

Weatherfish, known in scientific circles as Misgurnus anguillicaudatus, were spotted for the first time in the recently restored Indiana wetland, Roxana Marsh, by researchers from the University of Notre Dame. PhD candidate Katherine O’Reilly, who led the team that discovered the weatherfish, was at the marsh in 2015 for an IISG-funded project evaluating how coastal wetlands around Lake Michigan support the nearshore lake food webs. Read More

Thomas Beery joined the University of Minnesota Sea Grant College Program today at the Duluth campus as the Coastal Resilience Extension Educator.  Beery will be collaborating with Minnesota's coastal communities, organizations and resource managers to identify and develop the tools and skills these communities need to be resilient and adaptable in their changing environments.
