HLP Level 1 registration - all you need to know (plus new HLP Leadership training)

Qualifying pharmacies can now register as a Healthy Living Pharmacy Level 1 by completing the new self-assessment process quality-assured by the Royal Society for Public Health.

Completion of this process will enable pharmacies to obtain their 20 Quality Payments points and associated payment (up to £1,280 for achieving HLP Level 1).

To complete the process in full, pharmacies will need to:
1.      work through the HLP Level 1 quality criteria
2.      complete Leadership and Health Champion Training
3.      evidence HLP activity and log interactions
4.      complete an online assessment of compliance form and submit it to the RSPH

Training
HLP Leadership training needs to be attended by someone in a leadership capacity, usually a pharmacist. The Health Champion training can be attended by any member of your pharmacy team, including healthcare assistants and technicians. Only one person needs to attend each of these training sessions, and they do not need to be the same person.

If you have attended HLP training previously there is no need to attend further training unless you feel it would be beneficial.

GMLPC, working alongside Bolton LPC, has arranged several HLP Leadership training days for pharmacists in Greater Manchester. These training events will be facilitated by CPPE, and we currently have four training dates available. To find out more and to book your place please follow the link here.

The LPCs will also be running a number of Health Champion training dates. These are yet to be scheduled but will be announced in the coming week.

Accreditation
Registration to the RSPH HLP self-assessment process is currently free and you should receive confirmation and a certificate within 10 working days of completing the process.

The RSPH website has lots of useful information and FAQs on HLP Level 1 registration here. Pharmacies will need to complete self-assessment and registration every two years.

Trafford RU Clear Kits Expression of Interest. Deadline 15th Jan 2017

Trafford Council have recently circulated the attached letter requesting EOI for the distribution of RU Clear kits. The service is paper based and has no remuneration, although your pharmacy teams will be provided with access to free training and materials. The LPC would like to highlight that we were not consulted on this service before it was brought to contractors attention.
The LPC has contacted commissioners with feedback in regards to how this service could be improved in terms the process/ delivery of the service (electronic platform) and remuneration.

The LPC will update contractors with regards to the commissioners response via the newsletter, thus please keep an eye out for an update on this.

Improving Inhaler Technique Through Pharmacy Service Update.

The Greater Manchester Adult Inhaler technique service has been running in Community Pharmacies across Greater Manchester for a number of years.

We are now in the process of a service refresh, which should be completed shortly.

GMLPC will notify contractors when this process is complete and will circulate an updated service specification. At that stage contractors will be asked if they wish to continue to deliver this revised service.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all contractors for delivering the service to date. If you have any outstanding claims to make against this service, can we ask that  you ensure these are input on the Pharmoutcomes system. GMLPC will then ensure payments are brought up to date.

Please look out for a further update on this service in the next newsletter.

Last chance to register to help beat antimicrobial resistance!

Registration closes tomorrow for FREE resources to help you promote a new campaign aimed at tackling antimicrobial resistance (AMR). The Granada region is piloting a new publicity campaign educating people about the dangers of misusing antibiotics. It launches in February and you can get involved by displaying posters, leaflets and briefing sheets to help your patients and customers understand more about antibiotics, when/how to use them, and what not to do. There will also be digital resources and a social media campaign.

This is such an important health message that we know pharmacies across Bury, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford and Wigan will be keen to do all you can to support it and help spread the word.

You can order FREE resources until tomorrow (Thu 12th Jan). Just click here and use the password AMRPILOT.

Please note all campaign assets are strictly embargoed until the official campaign launch and restricted only for use in the Granada TV pilot area. For more information about the campaign; how you can support,  key aims, key facts and details of how Public Health England plans to support existing AMR initiatives please visit the PHE Campaign Resource Centre.
