THE TURNING 2019
Dear friends
We are sure that you have read, or heard about the mission that is taking place next week; however we wanted to write to ask for your prayers and spiritual support.
THE TURNING 2019 is a missions partnership between local churches, Moorlands College, Wessex Filling Station and the GATE Church Reading; which will see Christians from across the conurbation working together in unity, for the good of all. The mission will happen across Christchurch and Bournemouth, and surrounding areas, between 13th-19th June 2019.
The phrase 'The Turning' was borne out of a mission in Reading in 2016 when Baptist Minister (and the Vice President of the Baptist Union) Yinka Oyekan, pictured left, led his church, 'The Gate', onto the streets for a mission with a difference. The difference being that they were not going to 'bible bash' or 'preach' on the streets but talk to people, engage them in conversation, and share the Gospel with them... people responded in their hundreds... THE TURNING was born.
Over the last 3 years there have been many TURNING missions all over the country, Europe and in the US too. The Dorset arm of the greater 'Mission to England', that Yinka and the TURNING team have planned, is occurring across Christchurch and Bournemouth next week.
We are praying that people will encounter God, see Jesus in us, and want to find out more - that's where the discipleship comes in!
Area Hub Churches:
There will be two main Area Hub Churches, Bournemouth Community Church & Christchurch Christian Centre, where the missions team will gather for prayer, worship, training, inspiration, and street mission within their respective areas. Anyone with a heart for our conurbation is free to join us for a session or for the whole mission.
Each of those areas has their own specific web page complete with timings and plan - just choose your area from the links below. The mission will begin on Thursday Evening 13th June with an inaugural Celebration which takes place at BOTH Hub Churches. Please consider joining us.
Can you Join us - Can You Pray?
Someone asked the other day if the training sessions were free and open to all - YES! Another asked if they could come to the sessions and then stay at the church and pray for those going out on the streets - YES!
This mission is a kingdom partnership, and will only be a success if we work together putting aside our preconceptions, and differences, and working together for the common good - the Gospel of Salvation! DV.
We look forward to reporting a wonderful testimony of God Grace on the streets of our neighbourhoods in a couple of weeks time...
God Bless you all.
Please choose your Hub Church for further details, timings and mission details:
