This is a departure from the usual dental information I reserve for this spot in the newsletter but it occurred to me that having been in practice for over 37 years in the financial district, I get many “do you know someone that can…?” or “that does…?” It occurred to me that I can be a great resource for most any need, professional or personal, and can therefore make recommendations that would be reliable and experienced since I have the opportunity to get to know people from a professional standpoint pretty well.
For instance, I get many compliments on my website and I can thank my designer and writer for that (as well as for this newsletter). A key part of that is a graphic designer and the person I think of is also an art director. I can count excellent attorneys in my practice in the fields of trust, labor law, business and real estate, bankruptcy, immigration, family, personal injury, intellectual property—all very smart, good people and extremely professional.
My insurance agent for my personal lines (homeowners, umbrella, auto, etc.) saved me over $4000 when I switched to him three years ago. My business insurance agent saved me hundreds of dollars. My life/long-term care/disability agent found the best policy for my needs with one of the consistently top-rated companies. My health insurance agent has done the same. The best part is that these are people who go out of their way to give me personal attention and find me the best rates and do not oversell.
I have shared with many of you that I’ve been taking a supplement called “Juice Plus” for over five years. I am not into supplements or vitamins as a rule but I was given information on this and decided to try it. I used to get at least two knock-down, drag-out colds a year since I’m in the path of those viruses daily. Since I’ve been taking Juice Plus, which are concentrated fruits and vegetables in a capsule, I have maybe had three serious colds over that time period. I always say that I don’t know if it’s because of the capsules, but nothing else has changed in my behaviors so I’m not going to stop taking them.
I have a terrific massage therapist, chiropractor, nutritionist (she’s been very gentle and patient nursing me away from sugar and other bad food habits), an acupuncturist, a Pilates instructor—all of whose services I continue to use. Also a personal trainer and a hypnotherapist to help you stop smoking or get rid of negative fears and habits.
The fellow who takes care of our computer issues is an independent contractor who services small businesses like ours and basically on call when we have an emergency. His fees are very reasonable and seems to know everything there is about PCs. He only works on PCs but I also have an Apple specialist who complements him with his knowledge of Macs.
I have to reserve a single paragraph devoted to my mortgage broker, who is the most dedicated and conscientious one I’ve every worked with in 35 years of dealing with personal properties. He has gone out of his way to find the best possible rate, is extremely knowledgeable and in this complicated environment of seeking loans, never quits, which is easy to consider if you’ve had to go through that process in the last year or so.
I put my personal banker in the same category: a delight to deal with and provides attentive, personal service.
If you need a CPA or bookkeeper (who goes beyond routine bookkeeping), I can make recommendations. If you own a business and want to save money on payroll services or credit card processing and, I keep emphasizing this, want personal attention, let me know.
It may seem like all printing and copying services are the same but I’ve found that’s not the case. I use someone right in my building that can deliver professional brochures, flyers, bound books, any service one can need in that realm and in any numbers, sometimes within hours. And always within the time he promises. But quality is his focus and at the risk of using superlatives, his service is by far the best I’ve ever come dealt with.
Do you need someone to clean your house, apartment, or office who is very affordable, reliable with a very professional crew and can do it all with biodegradable products if you choose? I have the utmost respect for the person who does this and his crew leaves everything in precisely the same place that it was—just immaculately clean. I demand that since I’m obsessive about having things in order. Which brings me to one of the most “unusual” services I’ve used: a professional organizer for office or home. As I mentioned, I pride myself in having everything in its place. I’ve been complimented on how organized my garage is. I had him come over to check it out and he ended up making it more efficient to use and made me get rid of a van-load of things that I thought I needed. I don’t even remember what they were since I don’t miss them at all.
Public relations, communication technology, telecommunication services, catering services, video production, architecture, IT support, business brokering, financial restructuring of companies, real estate brokering (either commercial or residence), event planning, general contracting, interior design, employment agency services, computer database, customer relations management (Salesforce), personal financial advisor services, and AT&T advertising—these are all people I know and can vouch for. Someone to take care of printer and copier needs, who works with all the highest quality lines and has done so for over ten years—extremely knowledgeable in the all aspects, especially with the highly technical demands of today’s machines. My florist is not just a flower arranger. I like to define her works as floral sculptures because that’s what they remind me of. I’ve never received so many compliments as I have on her artistry for the numerous occasions I’ve used her services. The photographer who did my family portraits does weddings all over the world and understandable so. He is an artist and earned his degree in photography so is highly adept at what are the ever-increasing technical demands of his profession. If you’ve ever thought about having a company logo or just a personal message on an item such as a pen, tote bag, or T-shirt, I just recently learned that statistics prove that name retention is significantly higher if it’s on a promotional item (interestingly, more so on a pen than a coffee cup).
Again, we sometimes don’t know where to turn for the many services we need and the above are many of the ones I can identify for you. There are multiple others which I can probably recommend. Just give me a call or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
