Whangarei Lions Fireworks Spectacular

Where: Toll Stadium, Okara Park, Whangarei
When: Saturday 7th November

Come along and watch amazing fireworks safely.
If raining, it will be postponed until Sunday.
Important note: Some animals tend to get very scared with the noisy fireworks.

Auckland Deaf Society – Special General Meeting 

On the 6th November at 7:00pm, there will be a special general meeting for all members. The purpose of the meeting is to change the balance date of the audited accounts from November 30th to March 31st. This involves changing our constitution. Why change the balance date?  Our accountants and finance staff recommended we have the same balance date for ‘Auckland Deaf Society Incorporated’, ‘Auckland Deaf Society Foundation Trust’ and ‘Potters Park Events Centre’.  One of the benefits of changing the balance date is that we will be able to produced consolidated accounts giving you a more accurate picture of the financial health of the organisation. I do hope you will make every effort to attend this short meeting.

Deaf Club Meeting

At 7:30pm – 8:30pm on the 6th November, we will have a community meeting. The purpose of this meeting is to outline the draft 2016 – 2019 strategic plan of Auckland Deaf Society.  This will be a brief presentation.  We want you to help us shape the strategic plan for your society. You can do this by bringing your ideas, priorities and vision for the future of the Auckland Deaf Society.  There will be many different ways to make suggestions including NZSL video, vision boards, suggestion box, talking to staff and board.  Please come along and share your ideas.

Diwali Festival of Lights Presentation 

Deaf Desi NZ group are hosting a presentation about Diwali Festival of Lights.

The Forgotten People

A feature documentary will be screened at Auckland Deaf Society. This documentary was directed by Brent Macpherson. Roger Wyrill, Eric Coppage and Brent Ryder will talk about their experience interacting with Deaf students in Solomon Islands.

A Storytelling for Children in NZ Sign Language

Pollyanna Ferguson and Rachel Tate tells tales! Bring your little LitCrawlers (Ages 5-12) for story time with sign language interpretation. Pollyanna Ferguson is Deaf and was raised in a family of Deaf people; her first language is New Zealand Sign Language. Rachel Tate is a New Zealand Sign Language Interpreter who grew up in a hearing family and began working with Pollyanna in 2012.

Motorway Closures and Detours

If you regularly travel in or out of Wellington City, or are planning to soon, be aware there are four more overnight closures of the motorway coming up in November.
The motorway is expected to be closed in both directions between Ngauranga and Thorndon for up to nine hours at a time on the following dates:
10:00pm on Saturday 14th November to 7:00am on Sunday 15th November
10:00pm on Sunday 15th November to 5:30am on Monday 16th November
10:00pm on Saturday 28th November to 7:00am on Sunday 29th November
10:00pm on Sunday 29th November to 5:30am on Monday 29th November
Note – these dates could change due to bad weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

 World Festival of Magic - FREE TICKETS!

Christmas in the Park
