Changes for Safe Church Ministry

A note from our Safe Church Administrative Specialist:

Dear friends,
After about five years in Safe Church Ministry, I will soon be leaving my role here to take up a new position in the CRCNA as Donor Records Specialist. As I move on, I'd like to take a moment to remember and thank each of you for everything you bring to this ministry, as well as the ways you've helped me grow. It has been a joy and honor to interact with you over the past few years and I will pray for the ongoing work of Safe Church Ministry in all the many churches and regions. I so appreciate your dedication and passion for abuse prevention and healthier, safer church communities; it will continue to be a passion of mine as well. And even though I will miss working with all of you, I am looking forward to this new challenge and opportunity in my new position. My email address will remain the same if you'd ever like to reach out and say hello. I'd love to stay in touch and I wish you all the very best.    ~Carol

It’s very sad to see Carol leave us; however, we are so thankful for the time that we had with her and for all of her good work on behalf of Safe Church Ministry. We wish all the best for her in her new position and remain confident that the Lord will provide for the staffing needs of Safe Church. Please pray with us toward that end.

Our next newsletter will come to you in January; so best to use this opportunity to wish you a wonderful holiday season! Can’t believe it’s coming up so quickly. And as the U.S. celebrates Thanksgiving, may you have grateful hearts for the many blessings we receive from our Lord, especially for his coming down to earth on our behalf, and for his very presence with us always.

Safe Church Ministry Conference 2016

Now that the conference is over, we’re discovering that the real work is just beginning. You can read more about the conference in this newsletter, but this won’t be the last that you’ll be hearing about it. What we’ve learned, and the actions that have been inspired by it, will continue.

Whose Ministry is This?

We’re “Better Together” was one of our conference themes. We considered some thoughts from a book with that title by Paul Fleishchmann. The themes in the book can be applied to us, even though the book is not about abuse, or safe church ministry. Jesus calls us into partnership, with him and with one another, to accomplish his mission on earth. Who do we need to connect and partner with, because we really are better together? It takes all of us – without you, it’s really nothing.

Partners in Prevention

We are absolutely thrilled to have many wonderful partners in our Safe Church work. Abuse awareness, prevention, and response extend far beyond the CRC.  One example is Linda Crockett, from Samaritan SafeChurch. She inspired us at the conference with her own unsettling story, her passion, and her amazing accomplishments in building a social movement, which she believes is the only way to address a problem as complex as child sexual abuse.

Safe Church Mini-Grants

Safe Church is offering a 2017 Mini-Grant opportunity for Safe Church team members! You can find out all about it on our website, and access the application form here. Last year a mini-grant pilot program helped sponsor events in Ontario and in New Mexico. The mini-grant program is especially designed to encourage partnership with organizations like Dove’s Nest, and others who share our values. We hope that many more people will be able to take advantage of this opportunity in 2017.
