Power Over/Power With

Safe Church is pleased to have worked together with the Office of Social Justice on a series of articles related to power, which is a key dynamic in every situation of abuse. Check out these articles written from various perspectives as they explore theological foundations and how power plays out in churches and in the lives of individuals. A committee reviewing abuse of power will present a report, with several recommendations, to Synod 2019. Safe Church agrees that it’s important to further explore this topic so that we follow Jesus in the way we use the power we’ve been given.

The Sequel to Disney’s Frozen is Coming, Why Did the First Resonate with So Many?

There is power in being vulnerable and open, letting people see who you really are. While some may still be raging amid the storm, it is quite ok to allow them to work it out, full of sass, life, and transparency. The pain is all too real for far too many, and it’s time to “Let it go!” on their own time schedules (some things can never be fully let go). Consider along with Eric Kas, what we are learning, how it connects with Frozen, and how it can help increase our understanding of those who have suffered abuse.

Safe Church Conference in Classis Huron

For 20 years running, the safe church team in Classis Huron, led by Atie Ott, has hosted a safe church conference. In March 2019 over 90 people were in attendance, networking and learning from keynote speakers,  local organizations and one another to further the mission of safe church ministry within their own churches. Safe Church is so thankful for the efforts that make events like this possible. What might be possible in your own area? Talk to Safe Church to see how we can help make it happen.
