“I can’t tell you what a relief it was to talk with someone who understands” - a CRC member told us after she experienced an uncomfortable situation at church.
Safe Church has a vision, that in every CRC congregation, the value of each person is honored; people are free to worship and grow in a safe place, free from abuse; and where abuse has occurred, the church responds with compassion and justice that foster healing. We believe that the church has an important role to play in ending abuse, and we are thankful that we are seeing more congregations step up to address this pressing issue.
Though we don’t always know the influence of our work, especially in abuse prevention, we are encouraged by words that we hear.
“Thank you, you’ve been so helpful, and we really appreciate your resources too” - a pastor with a policy question.
“Thanks for listening and helping me think through this, we live in a very broken world, don’t we? Let’s stay in touch” - a safe church team member walking alongside a church in a difficult situation.
We’re thankful that the CRC has seen the need for Safe Church Ministry. We’re so thankful for the many volunteers who work on behalf of the ministry, and for the people who support us in so many ways.
In this season of Advent, we celebrate Emmanuel, God with us, as we await his second coming when he will right all wrongs and bring his kingdom in all its fullness. Until then, we'd like to ask you for your support for Safe Church Ministry as we seek to bring light into the darkness of abuse. Two funds support Safe Church Ministry; one is our general fund, and the other is our Classis Coordinator fund, which goes directly to the classes to support this critical role. Please consider a donation to Safe Church today.
P.S. Your generosity is why we are able to support churches and help make them a safer space for all. You can donate to our ministry below.
