Antiracism Journeys of White People

Join us for an engaging conversation and Q&A session with a panel of white anti-racism allies. Rev. Reggie Smith and Dr. Michelle Loyd-Paige will moderate this discussion and ask the panelists questions that will highlight their thoughts on how faith has shaped their journey to Stand Against Racism, and some of the hard lessons they’ve learned along the way.

About the Panelists:

Eric Nykamp, LMSW: Producer of the Antioch Podcast for Madison Church and Director of Life as Worship for Madison Church’s North Campus in Grand Rapids (Mich).

Libby Huizenga, MDiv: Public Theologian and undercover social justice warrior disguised as a mild-mannered professor and research librarian at Kuyper College in Grand Rapids (Mich.).

Joseph Kuilema, PhD: Assistant Professor of Global Development Studies and Social Work at Calvin University. One of his many research interests concerns how faith and theology intersect with professional value statements like the Natl. Assoc. of Social Workers code of ethics.

Stacia Hoeksema, LMSW: Assistant Professor of Social Work at Calvin University. One of her research interests is Christian community development in urban settings.


About the Moderators:

Rev. Reggie Smith: serves as the Director for the CRC Office of Diversity. He served as Director of the Offices of Race Relations and Social Justice from 2016 to 2020, and was pastor of Roosevelt Park CRC in Grand Rapids (Mich.) from 1994 to 2015.

Dr. Michele Loyd-Paige: is the Executive Associate to the President for Diversity and Inclusion (EAPDI) and holds an appointment of Professor of Sociology at Calvin University.
